Oi. It's been a while. After a crazy few weeks we've accomplished a lot including seeing the loin fruits off to Disney World for a week with their Dad & Stepmum and her family. We luckily got all of the first-ever-flight issues out of the way before they boarded a plane and that went without a hitch and no one killed anybody so apparently all was successful. The kids had never been away from home for that long so there was a little separation anxiety to contend with as well but reminding them that I used to ditch them in favour of across the pond exploits a few times a year quelled those fears to a certain extent too. Putting it in terms of abandonment brings back all of those fears and bitterness and gives them ammunition for their own exploits so I think I'll continue to do that.
The mister is now off to Montreal for a week long business trip. This is the first big trip away since he moved in so that's a little weird too. The initial plan was for me to join him but that was when the trip was going to be happening next week and not this week and it just wouldn't be fair to the sprogs to be jostled off to someplace else for another week again. So I'm here and have plans but am finding it very difficult to adhere to them. Dreary, rainy, grey, grim days do that to me. I need the sunshine to come out and help me photosynthesize because my leaves are droopy and that's just not conducive to cutting fabric or reorganizing things.
I have a lovely new bed now. Well, not new as such but new bedding which is divine. Fabricland kindly supplied me with a duvet cover, three sets of pillowcases, queen sized sheets and a box spring valance for not a penny over $50...so if you're in need of new bedding go there! Now! I can't remember when the sale is over but it's not quite yet.
Ummmmm...
We finally got a gdmf Wii! Yay! I probably gave the poor sod at the counter a harder time than he deserved but whatever. We've been waiting over 3 months for one. It's ours. We will love it with all our hearts. We've named it Mogwai.
I'm re-rediscovering Aimee Mann. Can't get enough of her, really. She's just such a brilliant lyricist with an amazing knack for irony and playing with cliches.
I've also re-rediscovered my love of Shreddies and not just due to their clever ad campaign. The name itself is worth eating. I've always loved Shreddies but the kids always get to them first. Them being gone saw an entire jumbo box at my disposal and I've indulged. It's probably been the best thing for my blood sugar since the frozen edamame I found.
And that's all. A month in the life and all that. Cheerio.
