Though this verse was inspired by the scene in Season 4 when Luke puts Dean to bed on the night before his wedding,I usually watch season one eps when I am writing in this verse. That is the cool, self-assured, intelligent, responsible, dependable, confident kid I am writing about.
Every time I watch a scene of Luke with Rory or Jess I think what a paternal person he is and what a great father he would be!
I always felt that Dean and Luke would get along great! They have a lot in common. They both like sports, fix their own cars, and were easily roped into doing chores for Lorelai! They're both good guys who are hard-working and treat others well. Dean would have responded the way Luke wanted him to if he had been in Jess' place.
I can feel the underlying want, NEED to be close, and yet the fear that, not only is it not his place but that Luke could be ripped from him as easily as his first family was.
Wow, that is EXACTLY what I'm trying to convey! I'm SO happy it comes through to you! Thank you so much for that!
Dean's heartbreaking rant at the end about his bike just breaks me, and I've read this several times.
I was a little choked up while writing it.
There will always be an element of angst in this verse, but this is definitely the angstiest thing I've written yet!
Thanks again!
