I love Dean and Lorelai together too! I loved how he knew what Lorelai and Rory's relationship was from the first time he met Lorelai. I loved how, the scene where she finds Dean tapping onr Rory's window, his apology turns into her joke about de-capitating him, and he goes with it. I've always thought it would have been really interesting if she had invited him in, and it was then Dean who drove her to the hospital when Richard collapsed.
His relationship with Lorelai was really solidified during the whole Rory/Jess situation. I loved how she was the one Dean went to when he first worried about it. And her attempts to fix it. I could watch the scene where she finally says to Rory that she is treating Dean like dirt over and over again. because it's so obvious yet she seems to be the only one who can see it! And the scene in the market at Thanksgiving where Lorelai tells Dean that she wants to remain friends and he is relieved.
Jess really was the Anti-Dean in his relationship with Lorelai. That is one (of the many) reasons that I can't see a relationship between Jess and Rory working.
The only ep I can remember seeing Logan and Lorelai in was where She and Luke are invited to Logans' parents' vacation home. And they had hardly any interaction, but Rory was cooking and doing all these things that Lorelai hadn't seen her do before, so it was obvious that Loreali wasn't really a part of that relationship.
But Dean fell right into their rhythm. And Lorelai always appreciated him more than Rory did. So, they just work together, for me.
