The light at the end of the tunnel

I'm making this post with full understanding that the local papers are calling for a winter storm this weekend, but . . . winter is on its way out in the upper midwest.

One last blizzard won't break my spirit, because the sun is back, and its rays have regained their strength.  If I leave my car parked on the street and the sun is shining, the car is warmer when I get into it again.  The days are growing longer--when I leave work (usually somewhere between 4:45 and 5:15), it's not even twilight anymore--there's legitimate daylight left.  If I skip the gym in the morning, I am annoyed by the rising sun in my rearview mirror during my commute, and that's a good thing.  We had a couple of days in the 40's (Fahrenheit) earlier this week, and it felt like April.  I'm getting close to wanting to run outside, and after three weeks of highs in the teens (when we were lucky), I never thought I'd say that again so soon.

We've had a laugher of a winter by Minnesotan standards, but I'm always so very, very glad to be rid of the long, dark, nights that it deserves a mention.

Also, super awesome set of music on my way home last night: The Descendents, The Hives, and Bad Religion.  Of course, it was over in like, six minutes, but it made me so very happy.
