Typical Malarkey...

I had been working on a simple SEM one-page for one of our clients. I was told by Big Boss to make it look exactly like the page that another franchise had been using as their website, so I couldn't use the SEM page format that we would normally use and that I could have gotten up in a matter of minutes. They wanted the exact style of the other franchisee's site, except for it to be styled in CSS so it wasn't all one big image. Okay. I told Big Boss that it was going to look like crap because the original did and that we should use the normal SEM page, but she insisted and I told her that I'd do it for her. Done and Done. Took a while because it's a crappy page and a bad layout that I was being forced to mimic. All that was left was to get the links for the two buttons at the top of the page. Easy enough.

Big Boss took no less than two weeks getting back to me on what the links should be, which included removing one of the buttons (that I was told to mimic exactly mind you) and then to create a second page for special offers. She then said the page needed to be changed completely and listed what needed to be changed. I then told her that what she now wants could have easily been done using our typical SEM page and it could have been done two weeks ago if not for all the limitations she laid down when the project was started that are now thrown out the window.

So, now we're back to doing what I originally suggested we do, doing it the way I originally suggested we do it. This keeps on happening over and over, and you'd assume that they'd figure out eventually that I know what I'm talking about as far as my job is concerned. There's a reason that they hired me, and you'd think they'd want to be getting their moneys worth. But, apparently it's going to take at least more than a year of the same thing happening over and over again before they finally go with it, if ever.

Thank God it's a Friday.
