Yup, if you haven't noticed (your dumb if you haven't) that today is Memorial Day. This is just one day that we "celebrate", is that even the apropriate word?, the men & women who have and still contnue to serve our military. My dad was in the Army & Coast Guard, my grandfather was a 90-day wonder in the Army during WWII and I myself am a former, and soon to be back in, Marine. As your drinking your beer getting drunk, having parties with your friends and family, having your BBQ with all the fixins, think about how you got it. It was pretty easy right (well except for those under 21 :P )? Now think about those in other countries who don't get that privilage or simply can't afford it because of their government. Think about everything you do on a daily basis and how freely your able to do it without some military walking around making sure you don't sneeze wrong. Our military is all over the world to ensure that those less fortunate have the same chance we do. By condoning our military shouldn't be anywhere but here, I say to you....GO TO HELL!
I may have not gone to war myself, but I know the feeling of almost going and also requesting to go. yes, while I was in Japan my first year I was on red alert for Taiwan. Then 2 years later I requested to go to Qatar when Saddam massed his troops along the border again. I can't say that I really want to go to war and I congratulate those who have gone over to protect not just us, but the world from dictators/government/terrorists who pose a worldwide threat. That is what we were trained to do....protect the world...that's what the military is. I am proud that I did it and will be proud again once I rejoin. I love my freackin country, even if I don't agree with everything our government does, we are still the most free nation in the world.
Now I have a request from all of you who read this in time. And if you didn't I hope you did this anyway. PLEASE take a monet of silence for the fallen soldiers, past and present, current, former and future soldiers and make a toast to let them know how much we appreciate what they have and are doing.
