Just got back from seeing the Star Trek movie with my mother. She's a geek and it's Mother's Day, what can I say. On the way home, I got to listen to my parents argue Kirk vs. Picard. It was weird. Anyway, I don't know much about Star Trek, but I enjoyed it, so I guess that means it was good. Without getting too spoiler-tastic, I don't think any die-hard Trekers (Trekies?) have to worry; from what I can tell, everyone was fairly true to character and besides, it's an alternate time-line.
That's pretty much all I have to say about it, really. Not a big Trek-fan, but I have nothing against the franchise either, so it was fun.
I will say this, however. I'm not sure if it counts as a spoiler or not, but I think they let someone's ADD kid-sibling take over the camera for some scenes that REALLY could have benefited from a steady-cam. Stop zooming in on Kirk's nose!
Also (small spoiler) it's possible that a certain beagle has been compromised. It's hard to catch, though.
