Archie and Wellard start working quickly, although Wellard's efforts are hampered slightly by the chattering of the monkey on his shoulder, as well as the tail wrapped around his throat.

Still, they manage to toss everything through in short order: both seachests, Svava's duffle, along with several packages and boxes stamped in a combination of French, Mandarin, and English -- profits of trading in Singapore. The small chest of odd treasures goes along with them, caught up in the flurry.

Jack leans against a beam, watching, and the look in the black eyes is oddly shuttered. But when the others turn, he straightens, and spreads his hands wide as he gives an insouciant, swaying bow.

"Be on your merry, then. Fair winds."

One by one, they cross the portal into Milliways-- Archie, then Wellard and the monkey, then Svava. The ribbons of light flare once as they begin to collapse--

--and then Wellard's dismayed shout is the only warning as the monkey streaks back through the opening and leaps from table to beam. Scolding loudly, it snatches Jack's hat and races for the cabin door and the deck beyond as the portal closes for the last time.

"OI!" Jack snatches for his pistol and levels it at the fleeing creature.

BANG!

The hat goes tumbling to the deck as the monkey tumbles over, then recovers and scrambles up the nearest lanyard into the rigging. Jack stalks over and retrieves his hat, shaking his fist upward.

"BLOODY UNDEAD MONKEY!"
