oh, by the way...
I'M ENGAGED! Here's how it all happened:
I've known for a while now that I wanted to propose on my birthday. This way, Lauren would be planning my birthday party which would actually turn out to be her engagement party, and we'd never forget the date of when I propose. The element of surprise was apparently a little too much in my favor.
Since it was my birthday, I left work early to come home and clean up for tonight. I have a spare key to Lauren's place that I keep at home in case of emergencies. This does qualify as an emergency. I looked it up. Anyway, I let myself in and cleaned up her place and lit some candles and stuff - you know, set the mood. As Lauren comes home from work, she calls to let me know she's out. About the time I hear her car door beeping over the phone, I let her go so I can assume the position and be all down on bended knee when she comes in the door. So, Lauren opens the door and sees her dark apartment with a dark figure crouching on her living room floor. Natural reaction: SCREAM, drop everything, and run out of the apartment. It took her a second, but she pieced together that there were candles lit and that the figure was actually me. So she came back in, and I proposed.
She said yes, by the way.
Anyway, I immediately shared with her all of the tricks and secrets from the weeks leading up to the engagement. We then went back to her work so she could show the girls at work. She cooked me dinner, and we headed over to my place for the party where a few people were already waiting. Big huge thank you to Amber who decorated for us. The balloon animals and stuff were absolutely hilarious. I'll post pics when I get them.
So, yeah. We're engaged :]
