Moving on up

Geez it's been a while. So what brings me here today you ask?

Well, after accepting a new job in October (same company, just a new position) I was hellishly busy for, well, until now. Last week was the first time I had much chance to breathe, and I figured I'd wait to see how things panned out, but the breathing room has continued so far this week.

No promises, but perhaps I'll try to check in here more often again. ('course, I think I said that in my last entry...)

Lots of big life stuff going on, just when the new job stuff is settling down.
I guess the big news is that Daniel and I are considering buying a house. We just did a round of appointments with Mortgage Brokers and discovered that we qualify for way more than we would have guessed, so much so that it's actually sort of silly for us to throw money away on rent.

We've got a place in mind, and are just working out the details - and everything is moving much quicker than we would have thought. Mortgage pre-approvals are done, we now have to make some decisions, arrange for an inspection, and get a real estate lawyer.

I keep thinking of that Ferris Bueller quote: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Somehow I'm in my 30s; in a long term relationship; I have, like, a career; and now I'm buying a house... WTF? Somehow it all feels totally natural and right - but every so often it totally freaks me out. Somehow I'm a grown-up or something.
