So we're into day five of no water... it's somewhat crummy, but made manageable for me because the water in Richmond is okay so I can hydrate at work. The plan for tomorrow is to bring all my empty water bottles in to work and fill them here so I have a better supply at home. That combined with drinking juice/iced tea/milkshakes/etc. means that people are essentially doing okay here. Thank you to everyone who sent good wishes!

Still, makes you think about how ill prepared we'd be if say, there were an earthquake (hee! I just wrote "earthquack" and then imagined what kind of devastation an earthquack would cause... then I imagined the earth as a giant duck...). If it weren't so easy for us to just go to the store and buy some juice or bottled water this situation would be much different I'm sure.

On Saturday I finally came to terms with having a dirty shower rather than continuing to hold out. I think the ratio between the amount of dirt in the water and the amount of dirt on me switched sometime around 2pm that day, so it became necessary.

Other than the water issue the weekend was pretty grand. Daniel and I went out to see "Shut Up and Sing" on Friday night, then I walked home from 5th Avenue theatres since it was such a nice night, I rummaged around with some books to pick out something to read the next day, watched Sherlock Holmes and was sound asleep by 11.

Saturday I learned how to knit. It was quite satisfying to go from seriously struggling at the beginning of the class, i.e. thinking I was incredibly dumb because everyone else seemed to be catching on quicker than I was (well, not quite everyone, but it felt that way at first) and worrying that I'd never get it to happily letting my fingers fly along, even occasionally getting way ahead of my brain to the point I thought I'd made a mistake only to discover I'd done everything right but just hadn't needed to think about it. Perhaps tonight I'll take a picture of what I've done so far so you can see.

Saturday night Daniel, Renee and I went with Heather II and her boyfriend to an evening of "Books, Baked Goods and Booze" at Daniel and Heather II's bandmate Joe's place. It was great fun! Everyone had brought various things to read - there was some great poetry, the first chapter of "Moby Dick", an environmental plea for atmospheric carbon reduction, an article from Orion magazine, an excerpt from "On the Road", and so much more. Truly all sorts of great stuff. I read my favourite Dr. Seuss book - "Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?". It went over pretty well I think... people gathered around on the floor so they could see the illustrations as I read. From the sounds of it these evenings will hopefully happen more often which would be great.

Sunday we helped Pascal move his stuff into Len's old room and Mike and Shane came by to help. I was worried when I first saw how much was in the truck, but miraculously everything seemed to fit. I think it might be a good match - and Pascal seems to have all sorts of neat things like piles of DVDs, games, a blender, juicer, etc. which he seems cool with letting us play with. After Pascal went to return the truck and Len went to get some things done Shane, Mike, Daniel and I watched Serenity. I really liked it but I still can't believe they killed Wash. He was my favourite! *sigh* Anyway, later Shane and Mike headed out, and Daniel and I got some more Six Feet Under in. We're five episodes away from the end and I finally figured out the other reason I'm sad about it coming to an end - it played a pretty integral part in the start of our relationship, and I'm not sure we'd have gotten together if we hadn't started watching it just the two of us... Ah well, I guess it's okay for it to end, it has served it's purpose I suppose...
