I was reading about something else and came upon someone asking about Kanye West's song, "Jesus Walks." A lot of people don't like it, a lot of people do like it, some people find songs that mention God or Jesus totally offensive when mentioned by "non-Christians" and others don't seem to have too much of a problem.
Here's what I found further down on the post about the infamous song:
""Jesus Walks" brings tears to my eyes every single time I hear it because of its vulnerability and honesty. I'm not even a Christian."
So Kanye isn't a role model, probably doesn't show up for church on Sundays, most likely fiddles with stuff he shouldn't and the like. And so he writes a song that mentions Jesus and to be specific, "walking with Jesus." So people find offense that an assumed non-Christian writes about having a relationship with Jesus and that is being irreverent or what have you. However, is there much difference between that and what some people do which is go ahead and sing those Christians songs, hymns, etc. and then turn around and curse the mess out of the person who cut them out leaving the parking lot, leave the service before the sermon because it's 'irrelevant' or they're 'not being fed' or something else? Some argue that if Kanye really 'walked with Jesus' he wouldn't have that lifestyle or whatever. But what about you and me? If we really walked with Jesus would we still be the way we are? Are we living like Jesus walks with us?
Although Kanye's perspective on Jesus and his 'relationship' to him may not sit well with all people we cannot ultimately judge whether or not Jesus walks with him. For all we know our controversial Kanye may be, as people in the church used to say, "building his testimony."
Back to the point of the post, if there was one, regardless of what we find fault or praise in this particular song or the lifestyle lived by the people who create/perform it or anyone who professes a faith in Jesus Christ, God will still work through the tainted messenger to deliver the perfect message.
I now give you permission to flame me.
