the grub's quilt!

It was kind of a crap day for pictures outside yesterday, but the light was better than what I can do inside (note to self: get some decent lights for taking photos of your work!), so here it is. The grub's quilt! All done! 40" x 30" - black and white and red all over. The white blocks have "fussy cut" large dogs and are quilted with Os, and the red blocks have an all-over print of smaller dogs and are quilted with Xs (tic-tac-toe!), and the border is quilted with a zig-zag. The black and white floral fabric I used for the border is also the entire back of the quilt. I did my first double-fold quarter-inch binding (which came out beautifully, if I do say so myself). I'm very, very pleased with how this came out, I really enjoyed the process of making it, and I can see a lot of quilts in my future (if I can make the time).

Also, a grub update! I went to my 33 week appointment with my midwives yesterday, and everything is looking good. I actually lost weight in the last two weeks (2.5 days of stomach bug with no appetite), but that's ok, because the grub is super-active with a strong heartbeat. Also, I'm measuring smaller than my dates (30 cms to my 33 weeks), but the midwife thinks that's because s/he turned around in the last 2 weeks and is now hanging out head down (yay!), which allows him/her to sit lower (since the head fits nicely into the bottom of my uterus while the butt doesn't), and thus measure smaller. And that explains the shortness of breath I was having before which I'm no longer having (thank goodness because it was awful).

So, yay for a head-down baby and OMG less than 7 weeks to go until my due date. And I think this baby is coming early. You may remember that Otto surprised me by coming at 39 weeks (I was so, so sure I was going to go past my due date), one day before I was scheduled to take my Series 7 exam. Well, we have a big client event planned for March 13, so now I'm suspicious that the grub will come on the 12th, foiling my plans!
