After a sort of grueling June and July (what with the unending renovation and other things), we are finally getting out and about and enjoying our summer. Starting tonight!
After 3.5 years (and three baseball seasons) living here, we are finally going to our first
Eugene Emeralds game tonight! We've been talking about going for the last three years, and are finally going (big thanks to Will for the free tickets!). I've never been to a minor-league baseball game, and I haven't been to any ball game for at least 10 years, so I'm really looking forward to it. And it's baseball card night, so if Otto can manage to be in the first 1,000 kids through the gate (probably not too hard since max capacity at Civic Stadium is 6,800), we'll get a complete set of the 2007 team cards.
Next week is the
Lane County Fair, one of the highlights of the year. I'm very excited because this year Otto will be old enough to actually enjoy some of the exhibits/shows. I am particularly excited about pig races and the goat parade, and taking Otto on the kiddie rides (if he's big enough), and of course, disgustingly delicious fair food. Caramel apples, lemonade, funnel cake, cotton candy, yum!
And when we head down to the bay area later this month, we'll be hitting the
steam trains and
carousel in Tilden Park,
Children's Fairyland, and the
Oakland Zoo.
Yay!
