the best part you ain't got to yet

I leave for Chicago in two days! Woo-hoo!

I have been working on editing my IJVP songs down to a minute (or thereabouts; several of them are as long as 1:30), because I know if I don't get started with prep work now, I'm gonna be swamped when the time comes to actually make these things. I hope it's not cheating to storyboard as much as I can beforehand. The more definite an outline I have, the quicker it will be to go in and lay all the clips, and then hopefully I'll have time to experiment with effects and filters and things. Although so far, I've given way more thought to narrative and lyric interpretation and clip choice than to visual experimentation; I suspect that in the end, this project will teach me a lot more about the conceptual, storytelling, "thinky" part of vidding, rather than the technical look-what-I-can-do part. And that's good; I actually have a lot more confidence in my ability to use keyframes or apply a gamma filter than in my ability to say something coherent and worthwhile about a character/pairing/show with a collection of clips and lyrics.

Anyway - I have been editing songs. 7 down, 5 more to go. And may I just say, I TOTALLY ROCK at audio editing. Seriously. I should do this for a living or something, cause all the shortened music so far is practically seamless - it has a definite beginning and ending and it sounds like it was always meant to be this short, and that's probably not a big deal to most of you other vidders who have been doing this for a while, but I've never had to cut a song down before and I think I'm doing a pretty kickass job for a beginner. Audacity is so my new best friend.

I'm gonna apologize in advance here; for the next two months this LJ may very well be all-IJVP-all-the-time. If this bores you, feel free to skim, skip or defriend - I won't take it personally.

In other news, I completely missed Veronica Mars tonight. Grr Arrgh!! I got so caught up with the music editing that I forgot what time it was. ...so um, how soon do torrents go up?

Oh yeah, that's another thing I forgot to mention; in the past month I have mainlined all of VM and fallen in love. New fandom! I didn't believe, oh, nearly everyone I know when they kept telling me how intelligent and charming and witty and fun it was (or, I did believe them - I was just being stubborn), and yeah, okay, all of you were right. For the record: there is no greater force on earth than my love for Keith Mars. BEST. DADDY. EVER. katearbor, as soon as I find and watch the latest ep, I will call you back and we will gab.

new fandom yay!, vidding, tv: veronica mars, vidding: ijvp
