Nestlings soon to become fledglings
I blame westwindschild - I am absolutely obsessed about these wee nestlings at the Rachel Carson Building!

At a mere five weeks from hatching these wee darlings are ready fledge. I tune in to them every morning and watch them most of the day, off and on, and this morning the Big Sister is hopping to the edges of the ledge and then hop-flapping her way back to her brothers and sisters. Every time she rouses those wings I hold my breath. I just know she's going to take off any minute, and I'll probably scream when she does and scare everyone here in the Orifice!
They are so inspirational! A constant reminder that life goes on, wee ones grow up, and fly off on their own. I appreciate every single day with my lads, even moreso since I started watching the wee'ns. And my heart already aches for the mama!
