CHAPTER 1
Dom had more than noticed him for several months now. They’d passed each other in the hall more times than he could remember. He’d rode in the same elevator with him; he’d sat across from him in the cafeteria and watched Billy everyday since he first started working in Dom’s office nearly four months ago.
He’d noticed that Billy liked the veggie burger on Fridays; the spaghetti on Wednesdays and almost always had chocolate milk. He’d even coincidently pissed with him in the restroom… twice. He watched him, studied him and fell completely and helplessly in love with this handsome new man in his office.
Billy had caught his attention from his first day at the company. He was pretty damn hard to miss actually, he was wearing a dark blue pin stripe suit and he looked fucking incredible. Even though he wasn’t working in his same department, Dom had found out what his name was after he had been working there for less than a week. He had managed to discover that Billy was single after two weeks, and knew he drove a green Honda Accord. He even knew where he lived after he had followed Billy home, just out of curiosity one night. Of course he would never think of doing anything like park outside his flat watching his windows, at least not for hours and hours. But he already knew Billy lived alone and wasn’t seeing anyone.
He wasn’t stalking Billy. Not really. He was just curious, being observant that’s all, learning about this handsome new man in the next department. And Dom had long ago decided he would make his move soon. It would be perfect. He had a good feeling about Billy. Billy would understand him. He just knew it.
However sometimes Dom heard little voices in his head, they’d torture him by constantly berating and demeaning him. They’d remind him over and over again that a man like Billy would never go for a lop jawed loser like him. Dom would have to squeeze his eyes shut, curl his large hands into tight fists until his nails dug into his palms and bled, and he’d curse under his breath until the little voices went away.
At work, Dom would always be polite to Billy, he would smile or nod in Billy’s direction when they passed each other. But never more than that, until today. He was going to actually speak to him today. He had a valid reason to go into Billy’s department and talk to him. He had a question about a client’s account, one that Billy had worked on that had been then sent on to Dom. It would be perfect.
Dom gathered up the papers he needed and his courage and walked to Billy’s office. His heart was pounding; he had rehearsed what he would say over and over. He could have easily emailed Billy to ask him why some of the clients information was missing. But he would tell Billy that he needed to stretch his legs anyways. That might even lead to a mention of his gym and if the conversation went the way he hoped it would, maybe he could ask Billy if he would like to go with him someday.
As he walked down the short hall, he even smiled as he walked past the short, plump woman from accounting, the same woman who never make eye contact with him or looked in his direction. But today was different; today he’d get closer to his goal, to the man he loved, Billy Boyd.
He almost had a skip to his walk. He cleared his voice just before he turned into the door of Billy’s department and walked to the back to where Billy’s small office was. Nothing could upset him now.
He heard the giggling first. The high pitched and obviously fake cackling of that cunt Roz. The same fucking bitch who flung her slutty, filthy self at every man who worked in their building. Dom despised her. And not just because she never made a pass at him or ever gave him the time of day either. She exemplified everything Dom hated about women, too much cheap perfume and too much make-up. Her clothes were always too tight, she talked and laughed too much and too loudly. All the men seemed enthralled with her for some ungodly reason. Dom just wanted to smash her face with a brick and shut her up.
And there she was. Sitting on Billy’s desk, her legs crossed, her head thrown back, her breasts thrust out as she laughed. Her tight skirt was hiked up exposing her thigh for Billy and she was laughing that fucking annoying laugh that made Dom’s head feel like it wanted to explode.
She stopped abruptly when she noticed Dom.
