I'm doing it on a 5, and the original pattern was on a 7, but I think you can do it on anything. BUT 5 would make a pretty fashionable LA-sized scarf. Also, it's on Vanna's Choice Sapphire.
And Aelphie also has the Dalek pattern for the other end.
Needle size varies upon how wide you want the scarf to be. I used a US size 5 and it's about five and a half inches wide; but, because it's a scarf, you can get away with any size. I would recommend knitting 34 sts for however many rows on size 10 and seeing if you like the width. Also, the finished product can be found here (if you haven't seen it already). I have not given Pippie the Dalek pattern yet, but once I do, I'm sure it can be passed along. =D
Because bamboo is, like, the best thing ever. XD Good luck! Remember, it really does take forever, especially on the tiny needles. But, I thought it was worth it to have the dainty stitches, even though I also am a die-hard size 10 needle. They're kind of just the right size to not make awkward-big stitches, but not cramp your hands either.
#10 bamboo FTW!!!! Yep, still looks delicate enough, but goes quickly and your hands are alive. I was thinking dainty stitches will be better for such a subtle pattern.
=D B-T-Dubs, if more questions pop up, feel free to let me know. I had to do some re-writing on the pattern, and I'm not sure how clear all of it is, but, knitting is kind of one of my most favorite things, so I'd be happy to answer more questions. =D
Whew. Okay. I did it! The #5 isn't that bad, after all! And I could totally follow your pattern! The only thing I modified is that I've since done ribbing for the main body of the scarf, just because I like doing that. It will be a little while, but I'll definitely be ready for the Dalek in a bit!

Is there a suggested needle size? I usually work with a 10.
