Well, I've made a couple of commitments to myself--one, make something new (that I don't hate) for the baby every week; two, use up all the yarn that's been gifted to me that I don't really have any use for. Lucky me, these goals seem to work well in conjunction with each other!
I've been having a blast making up patterns for the kiddo that don't look like your typical baby stuff. This sweater vest is great, I love the brown and cream colors and the look & feel of wool (without being itchy).
Pippi's Earthy Baby Hooded Sweater Vest
When I received all this wool/acrylic yarn, I really didn't know what the heck to do with it. I begrudgingly used some for a small project, and discovered it was really soft and easy to work with...though I still disliked it on principle. I recommended it to my knitting students but STILL wouldn't use it myself. Well...along came this pregnancy, and my realization that the baby would probably puke, drool, and even poop on the clothes I so painstakingly created for it. Alas, I have become more accepting of the idea of acrylics. And this stuff really does have a great wool look and feel that I love without being itchy at all.
