Challenge Fic 8)

Jul 01, 2010 18:20

This is my first challenge fic... I kind of took a few liberties with it, so sorry if I went a little too far. Anyway, I hope that you like it!

"Uh, Ms. Pilsbury?"

"I am more than memory
I am what might be I am mystery
Come closer
Come closer."

Mr. Schuester glanced at a page of his Spanish II class syllabus, falling out of Finn's spiral- bound notebook, as he walked through his classroom during a test.

"Just raise your hand when you're finished, guys, and I'll come pick it up!" Mr. Schuester called to his class, spending just a moment too long staring at the top of Finn's paper.

"Am I doing something wrong, Mr. Schue?" Finn asked in concern, seriously nervous that his teacher was lurking behind him for so long.

"No."

"Not on my test?"

"You know I can't tell you that... sorry."

Finn groaned.

"Shut it, Hudson!" Rachel snapped. "Some of us are trying to pass."

Geeze, Finn thought, she still bitter about their break- up?

One of the other students raised their hand, and Mr. Schue walked over to them and got their paper.

"You can leave when you're finished!" he announced, as several students who were already finished, noisily grabbed their things and began to depart the classroom.

"Can I talk to you after class, Finn?" Mr. Schue asked.

Matt and a few other athletes whispered behind him, as Finn asked, "Did I do anything wrong?!" with a priceless expression of horror on his face.

Mr. Schue held back a chuckle. "No, I just want to talk about something.

"O... kay...?"

"Are you going to be asking Finn about his lyrics?" Mr. Schue and Finn turned towards the small, girl's voice asking a question.

"Actually," Mr. Schue let out a nervous chuckle, "I was. Do you mind if I read it?"

"I... guess...?"

Finn opened his notebook and handed him the paper.

A few more students walked up to Mr. Schue and handed them their papers.

The only students left in the class were Finn, Brittany, Santana, who was the first to finish, as usual, but was waiting for Brittany, and some guy who was on the basketball team with Finn.

"I am more than memory
I am what might be I am mystery
Come closer
Come closer." Mr.  Schue read the first verse.

"I am old as time
I'm forever young
I am every song that will stay unsung I'll find you
Remind you

Until you name me
you can't tame me
This is one old game
I can play so well

im alive im alive
I am so alive
climb on my back
and we both can fly

I'm alive I'm alive and I'll never die

I'm alive
So alive

I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm alive
I'm alive."

Mr. Schue stood in the middle of the classroom, his jaw slightly dropped, and his mind slightly worried.

"Is this about your Dad...?" Mr. Schue asked his student.

"Yeah. I mean, it's not like I need to talk to Ms. Pilsbury or anything, but sometimes I feel like he talks to me." Finn explained.

"Emo!" The basketball player coughed. "Girl." The boy coughed again.

"We keep our comments to ourselves, James..." Mr. Schue warned the basketball player.

"Whatever..." the athlete responded, turning back to his test.

"I liked it, Finn!" Brittany stated as if it were the most simple thing in the world.

"Thanks, Brittany." Finn offered the Cheerio a small smile.

Meanwhile, Santana shot the boy a death glare. If Brittany liked the poem, then, hell, she would too.

Brittany smiled. "Thanks."

"I really think that you should submit it to the school literary journal via Mr. Tyler." Mr. Schue recommended casually.

"I don't want everyone to think I'm an emo sissy, like Wilder said..." Finn trailed.

"You can submit things anonymously," Mr. Schue offered, pressing the idea on Finn. "You guys can keep this quiet, can't you?" the teacher asked.

"I can," Brittany responded in her little voice. "From everyone except my cat... she reads my diary."
