or, how my little brother's new nickname is "Forest Gump"
My stepmom Mandy called me today. My little brother Elijah was shot by a sniper in Al Qeida territory yesterday. He and a buddy were exiting a building when the sniper opened fire. His buddy was shot in both legs, Eli, however, was shot in the buttocks, close to his hip. Luckily, the bullet did not hit his hip joint or any other bones, it did, however hit a vein, making it a very messy and serious wound. He was flown to a hospital in Germany today for surgery. The surgery was more complicated than anticipated due to the bullet hitting the vein. He is recovering, though part of the bullet is still in the wound. Eli is coming stateside while the wound heals so he should be able to come up before he heads back over to the Middle East. Eli, being the goofball that he is, was joking with the medics and hospital staff while on the way there and such.
The main thing is that Eli is alright. He'll have a scar, but it could have been much much worse. Thank God for looking out for him.
Of course, as soon as I see him, it'll be "Somthin bit me." And other such Forest Gump and buttocks jokes all around.
