Title: The Mirror's Reflection
Rating: NC-15
Pairing/Characters: Jongkey, SHINee
Genre: fictional, HS, AU
Chapter Word Count: 2,475
Summary: Kibum, a junior in high school, hadn't known just because he irrationally feared his enemy, he had lost a part of himself that everyone else could see. He always thought people were staring at him in awe or jealousy. But Kibum finding the truth makes him realize it's definitely not the way he thought it was. That's where Jonghyun came in. Jonghyun, the senior and partner in his English class, turned out to be more than just a seat partner, but more like a best friend at first. And it turned out Jonghyun was the one. The one who could see the mirror's reflection, unlike Kibum.

Chapter ten (Final): The Mirror's Reflection

April

“J-Jonghyun, I’m scared,” Kibum whimpered. He wasn’t ready. It had only been a year, he was clearly not ready. Oh god, this was so pressuring. Oh god, oh god, oh god, damn it Jonghyun, him and his trickery getting him into the bathroom . . .

He could hear Jonghyun’s smile and feel his arms work their way around him. It was the only little reassurance he was given right now and no way had he felt fully confident.

“You can do it,” Jonghyun soothed as he tightened his hold, putting his head on Kibum’s shoulder, “You’ve worked hard. It’s paid off. Completely.”

It’d been a full year (and a couple days) since Kibum’s last body-freak out (because he still blatantly avoided mirrors) and Jonghyun had been patient and trustworthy as he tried getting Kibum to where he is now.

Kibum had no problem eating regularly. It was just the thoughts in the back of his mind that told him he’d blow right back up into that tubby monster. No matter how many times Kibum cried or said ‘I can’t’ when his brain told him to give up, Jonghyun was the blessed angel that helped push him and encourage him forward.

But . . . had it really paid off?

Usually it’d take a long time to do such things. Kibum shouldn’t be any different than the other people who have problems such as he has. This kind of thing takes years to heal-and Jonghyun was telling him the process was already over? What kind of bullshit was he trying to pull today?

He really didn’t know if he was ready for any of this.

His enemy was right there. Ready for the kill.

They were in Kibum’s bathroom in front of the mirror. The lights were on and Kibum had sealed his eyes shut-and no way had he wanted to open them.

(The door was open; Jonghyun why can’t you just let him free?!)

He couldn’t face this terror yet; he hadn’t prepared at all. He wore a baggy shirt and put on a chain-head band and he surely knew that this was not something he would want to look at.

Five minutes ago:

“Uh-uh, no way!” Kibum screamed in the empty house as he tried dodging Jonghyun’s hands that eagerly wanted him.

“Kibummie!” Jonghyun shouted exasperated as he tried catching him.

“No way!” He shouted again as he stumbled down the stairs to get as far as possible.

Jonghyun quickly followed behind with ease as Kibum suddenly took a turn into the kitchen.

“Don’t be difficult!” Jonghyun shouted, almost clutching Kibum before he dodged again and ran to the other side of the kitchen, through the dining room and to the living room, “Even your mom said it’s time!”

Kibum didn’t want to look at the mirror yet and he didn’t plan to. All he had to do was wear Jonghyun out and he could lock himself in his room.

He headed for the door and ran outside, quickly racing to his backyard (totally discarding the fact he was running in a loose shirt and his boxers).

Jonghyun followed behind him, his stamina in greater condition than Kibum’s, unfortunately.

“Jonghyun, stop it!” He demanded as they ran in circles.

Jonghyun grunted and held his hand out to catch Kibum, but was unsuccessful once more as Kibum dashed out of the backyard to the front, going back inside the house.

He wanted to slam the door shut, but Jonghyun was already behind him and didn’t care anymore.

He ran (more like climbed) up the stairs (on all fours) tripping his way into his bedroom.

He began closing it behind him before his chaste boyfriend could stop him.

But why did Jonghyun have to be so fast?

They both pushed on the door for victory. Kibum was so close to closing it and Jonghyun was far from winning.

“K-Kibum!” Jonghyun shouted, no anger presented itself, “K-Kibum, stop this!”

“No!” he shouted as he tried even harder.

He heard the dog growl and felt a harder push against his own strength.

“No, no, noooo!” Kibum screamed.

But with a final push, Jonghyun burst through the door, the wind on Kibum giving him a scent of his cologne he bought for him.

Kibum quickly backed up with his palms facing up as Jonghyun pressed forward. He was being quite scary and he didn’t know what to do.

“Jjong, please,” he simply begged, still backing up.

But Jonghyun refused and still pressed forward.

“Not today!” Kibum whined, “Tomorrow, we’ll do it tomorrow!”

“I have class the rest of the week, Kibum,” he growled, getting closer.

Kibum felt the edge of his bed on the back of his knees and he hopped on the bed, edging towards the window.

I still have that rope there . . .

Everything came to a halt for a moment.

And then Kibum made his move.

He retreated to the window and, clumsily, tried prying the window open.

When he felt arms circle his waist like barriers, he yelped and screamed out as if he were being murdered.

“JONGHYUN, STOP IT!” He screamed and thrashed against him, “STOP IT, NOW!”

Jonghyun said nothing and pulled him from the bed.

He thrashed too much and caused them both to fall to the floor.

“J-J-Jjong,” Kibum begged, drowning in tears, “Please, Jjong.”

Jonghyun’s legs securely held his boyfriend in place, running his hand through Kibum’s hair and gave him a softening look as he began to broke down, “Kibum, stop this.”

He shook his head and clawed at his arms with his stubby-nailed fingers, begging for him to let this go.

It was only a year, he wasn’t better yet.

“Bummie, stop worrying,” he pressed his hand to the flushed younger’s cheek, “You shouldn’t have run-you’re all tired now.”

Kibum panted a little and closed his eyes, letting the tears out no matter how much he didn’t want to, “Jonghyun, please don’t make me do this.”

Jonghyun helped Kibum to his feel and held his body close to them, rocking their bodies from side to side slowly to calm Kibum, “Today, Bummie. Today.”

With that, he picked up Kibum and led him down the hall and into the already lit bathroom.

Kibum braced himself.

“J-Jonghyun-n . . .” Kibum cried without tears-he was beyond them.

His boyfriends rubbed his thumbs over his arms in comfort and Kibum couldn’t help but to slightly calm at his touch. Maybe, as long as Jonghyun could keep soothing, it wouldn’t be as bad as last time. . .

. . . This man doesn’t know how much power he has over him, unlike anyone else.

“Don’t get worked up,” he murmured on his shoulder, rubbing his nose along his neck, “You’ll be okay. I swear it. I’m not going to lie to you. Ever.”

No matter how much he trusted Jonghyun, he couldn’t convince his brain to pull back his eye lids. The unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach backed his stubborn brain up and squeezed his eyes tighter together as if he had chucks of dirt in his eyes. He rubbed them repeatedly, but they just wouldn’t budge.

And he just knew the mirror chuckled darkly at him from his unstoppable fear. It waited for him to try and was ready to provide him with the worst and a new, awful, frightening image of Kibum would engrave into his head now.

There was no stopping this fear.

But oddly, he wouldn’t thrash.

He tried to peek, but utterly failed, turning in Jonghyun’s arms, forcefully trying to hide from the mocking reflection.

“Bummie,” he was soothed once more. Jonghyun pulled his hands to his face and lightly kissed his lips so gently pushing upon him, “Trust me.”

Kibum shivered and tried to turn, but his feet wouldn’t move an inch-or even budge. They stood solid on the floor and begged Kibum to stay completely still as the mirror eyed him.

But Jonghyun turned him back around, replacing his empty left shoulder with his chin, arms around Kibum’s figure, stroking his wrists, “Kibum,” he breathed.

No.

Oh no.

He was not ready for this.

Not ready at all!

Eyes painfully aching, he nervously hummed out his response and held on to Jonghyun’s arms, hoping the clutch would reassure that his fears would melt and he’d be made of gold under the nasty layer.

Why couldn’t he trust Jonghyun fully? He had no reason to lie to him-no reason to put him in front of a mirror if he looked bad. He said he wanted to help and that’s what he’s done.

Goddamn it, Kibum, trust him!

He unevenly shuttered his exhale as his boyfriend kissed up his neck and on his jaw, up his cheek and to his left eyelid.

“You’re perfect.”

Kibum froze on spot.

He was . . . perfect?

This boney boy or this blubber boy was perfect?!

Jonghyun, you’re giving Kibum every reason to doubt you.

You liar-

“You’re so perfect,” Jonghyun breathed, almost purring. His arms lightly faltered, but Kibum wasn’t having any of that. He kept his grip on his arms and shook his head, not believing.

“Perfect,” he simply said.

Kibum shook his head.

“Kim Kibum-my Kim Kibum. The one I wrote my first love song about. The one I played my guitar to first. The one who was supportive of my talent-and even sang along. The one who wears the ring of trust and promise. The one I swore to protect and help. The one I swore to love unconditionally no matter what asshole swoops in and tries to hurt you. The one who I could never lie to no matter what the situation. My Kim Kibum . . .

“My Kim Kibum is perfect.

“Perfect.”

PERFECT.

Kibum boosted in confidence. Jonghyun said perfect over three times now and summed up his entire confession. Jonghyun held him so safely in his arms. Jonghyun lightly peck on his cheek for extra confidence. Jonghyun was the one who sat beside him the whole way, the one who never got bored or angry at him . . .

Kim Jonghyun was perfect.

And now, he made Kim Kibum perfect alongside him.

Kibum tensed up in the elder’s arms as he prepared for what he was going to do.

He opened his eyes.

And he saw.

At first, he saw Jonghyun’s head peeking over his shoulder with a face so delighted, it was like Christmas all over again. His eyes were big and his smile was wide, clearly ecstatic that his eyes were finally open.

“Don’t look at me, Bummie,” he said excitingly, “Come on, baby. Look at yourself.”

Come on, baby.

Look at yourself.

Kibum heard his mother’s exact words in the back of his mind. How she was delighted to take him somewhere new; to show him something new. And what ended up happening was a toddler having a mental breakdown in the middle of a furniture store with a panicking, lovely, stunning mother trying to calm him down.

The memory was painful, but he knew he couldn’t compare now. He already had his eyes open-and they weren’t willing to shut whatsoever.

He saw.

He saw the slightly taller figure in Jonghyun’s toned arms.

He saw the boy with yellowed hair that was carefully styled with his bangs swept to the left under his headband.

He saw

He saw his face. His feline eyes were complimented by the radiant and glowing skin color that had no dash of gray, dark circle, or blemish caught into it. His nose was softly-rounded and his jaw line was sharp-not sickly. It was rather incredibly attractive the way his jaw line was defined by his accompanying neck. His lips weren’t thin, but they weren’t large either. They were enough to call plush and enough to call them ‘just right’ by Kibum’s terms.

He saw.

Coming out of his shirt were the arms he saw during Christmas time. Evenly muscled now and the veins still popped seductively (hopefully telling Jonghyun to ‘bite him’). No hint of bone-or rather just bone-stuck out, not even on his evenly fleshed fingers.

Kibum’s legs felt limp, but Jonghyun dragged him back a little to get him a good look at the legs coming out of his boxers.

He saw.

No longer he had twigs for legs. No longer did he have his kneecaps jutted out. Just like his arms, they were evenly muscled and look quite good looking when he got a good look at his thighs (in which Jonghyun had already called ‘delicious’).

“Okay, Bummie,” Jonghyun said in delight, “Here we go.”

He took hold of them hem to Kibum’s shirt and slowly lifted it over his head and on the floor for him to see.

He. Saw. It.

His pretty, plush mouth dropped.

It was beautiful. Purely. There was no significant sign of just ribcage pointing out how skinny he was. And there was no hint as to seeing any of his functioning organs inside him.

He obtained a flat tummy-stunning, if Jonghyun may add.

The skin of his tummy radiantly glowed healthily in the light, showing the dark tint to his happy trail (and he could see Jonghyun eyeing it fondly) moving down lower from his cute little belly button.

Jonghyun’s hands slowly rubbed over it (Kibum noticing how dark the puppy really was) and Key leaned back on him. He held on to the elder’s wrists and stroked his thumb among him, humming in approval to his touch.

Jonghyun’s refection gave him a toothy smile at his reaction and kissed his neck thoroughly, quite pleased.

Kibum tried keeping his focus away from the feeling of lips lightly trailing on his neck. This was all what he didn’t expect. It was far, far different than what his brain process had in mind. But, how could he even word his feelings? Just . . . how to sum it up into one word?

Kibum looked at the now poker face inside the old enemy and stared at it hard. Watching him blink, breathe, and fidget with the hands around him. He looked at his face for quite awhile with feelings mustering up inside of him.

He kept on staring, trying to find a reason as to why he should hide and never come out.

But everything was so perfect-so calming.

His hands forced Jonghyun’s into his, and he could see Jonghyun’s smile in the mirror before he dipped down to kiss his shoulder.

His eyes remained on the face inside the mirror again, silently greeting the boy, knowing he was okay.

The boy in the mirror smiled at him.

The mirror’s reflection was no longer a fear.

The mirror’s reflection was now his strength.

----Note~----

... IT'S OVER IN WRITING!

HUZZAH, THE TENTH AND FINAL CHAPTER!

It was kind of quick, and a bit unrealistic, but come on IT'S A GOOD CHAPTER, I'LL SAY THAT.

I've been excited to post this all weekend; I mean, not to just finish it, but to show that Kibum could actually befriend the mirror if he just looked at it the right way.

(If any of you would wonder, even if Kibum accidentally gets chubby or boney again, he won't be afraid. Because he knew at least once that he looked like a human being.)

I know phobias aren't something to get over easily (I get it, I swear. It's not fun), but I think in Kibum's case, he was more conscious of himself rather than what the mirror was showing.

I'M FEELING ALL GLEEFUL AND EVERYTHING. ADSFGGHFDSASJHGFDS

FIRST MINI FIC. CHECK.

I thank you guys so much for sticking with me on this; truly everyone that stopped by and silently read, too. I never mind silent readers. c:

God, I feel happy.

I'M ALSO NOT STOPPING MY WRITING. BYE BYE, HIATUS OF SOME SORT!

I mean... I have no idea why I wanted to write 2Min, considering I don't ship them, but I'm writing a fic about them atm.

I know I get self conscious of my writing, BUT THE PLOT TO THIS HAS BEEN IN MY HEAD FOREVER AND I JUST. ASDFGDSADSFGD LOVE IT.

I hope I also have 2Min shippers or open-pairing readers who know about this. I'd be happy if anyone was interested.

I had a title for the fic, but dropped it because it was WAY too long- it was a SENTENCE.

(Instead of titling it 'Monster', like so many others, I decided to take an actual lyrics from BB's Monster. But now, I've changed it completely... well, still deciding.)

I hope everyone who's interested (in such little detail I told) would anticipate the fic I'm writing and will release probably a bit from now!

ANYWAY. BACK TO THIS.

My parents would actually like to thank you all, too. After seeing how many views/anything at all of The Mirror's Reflection, they're really grateful that my mood sort of... uplifts from updating, ya 'know?

(Of course they've never read it. I'm going to make MAJOR edits before they can. xD )

ALRIGHT. SO.

(AFF EDIT) Thank you so much to all 49 subs, 1083 views, 27 comments, and those two upvotes. They mean EVERYTHING to me that you guys like it. cccc:

(LJ EDIT) Thank you to all the viewers and commenters! No matter what you've done, silent reading, all that and whatnot, I'm glad you took interest. c:

I hope you guys loved the update/the 'ending', and I hope you'd like to continue waiting for my other projects.

SO. HAVE A NICE REST OF THE WEEK GUYS. YOU DESERVE IT. C:

BYE GUYS.
