Dear Engineering students,
Your syllabus is enclosed. If any changes are to be made, I will let you know.
ENGINEERING Classes - 2008 Semester
Dr. Rakshata CHAWLA - Pine Hall #
Office Hours: T 3 PM - 5:30 PM, Th 11 PM - 4 PM
Professor's Expectations
Students are expected to be timely, ready for class, and respectable towards their tools, colleagues, and the professor. Any breaching of these elements will result in action decided upon the professor. Academically, students are expected to have at least one semester of Calculus or Pre-Calculus in order to comprehend materials necessary to become excellent engineers in society.
Horseplay, dangerous and risky behaviors, and other behavioral issues will not be tolerated and will result in immediate dismissal from the course. Students who continue this more than twice will be flunked automatically. Horseplay is for free time, and while you're in my class, you are far from free.
Grading
Students will be graded for all work in the forms of:
A.) Two large-scale projects to be completed by midterm and finals, chosen by the student. (25% each)
B.) Participation in class. (10%)
C.) A midterm and final exams prepared by professor. (20% each)
Students will receive an F on transcript and a failure for the class if the student misses more than four classes unexcused. Engineering is not meant to be easy and it is only as interesting as you make it for yourself. It is not my objective nor mission to entertain you, I am here to teach.
Other
Grading scales follow Evergrove University's official grade scale. Curves may be given depending on class knowledge and participation. Food and drink are disallowed in the classroom with the exception of water which must have a container and a replaceable cap. Any other questions may be directed at Dr. Chawla at any time.
Additionally, students, I will be talking to you in your classes about your projects. If you have any idea for what you would like to do for your project, let me know now and I will reserve it. No two students may have the same project. Additionally, list what class you are from. I still do not have your names memorized and with as many students as I have, I may not remember your class right away.
This part of your project is to be due by mid-terms. And since it is worth a quarter of your grade, I would suggest starting immediately.
That is all~
