Soccer Mom
I am a complete and total soccer mom, despite the fact that I have no kids and no one around here is playing soccer. (Okay, I suit up once a year to play in the student vs. staff game, but that is it!) First of all, I drive a Jetta, which is enough. Second, listen to my day today: woke up at 7:00 and ran 2.5 miles. Walked to Starbucks in my running skirt to read the paper and drink a Frapuccino. Went patio furniture shopping with the husband and picked up groceries in my reusable Publix grocery bags. Dropped off husband to set up new patio furniture. Visited scrapbook store to get materials to make a scrapbook for a friend; picked up pictures to Scrapbook at Walgreens, where I had gotten a 50 pictures for $5 deal. Came home; swam in pool with husband. Read a book for a bit, and then baked a chocolate cake with mocha frosting from scratch. Now I am washing dishes and getting the laundry together. Tonight, we'll eat chicken, corn on the cob, and pasta salad on our new patio furniture and watch a movie. Ridiculous.
Here is a link to the chocolate cake recipe, by the way. I haven't tasted it yet, but I am sure it is excellent. I will warn you, though: it is extremely messy, and it really helps to have an electric mixer.
We are currently working on summer plans. Here is a tentative schedule: Hang around Florida all of June and half of July; pack up the house and house hunt in Sarasota. Generally relax and get ready to move. Run, scrapbook, work on other summer projects. July 13 until 16, I will probably be in Cleveland for the Imagine Schools National Forum. (Yay!) Then I will fly to Chicago, stay overnight, and fly to Omaha on July 17. I will meet Mike there and get picked up by his parents to drive to Iowa for a family wedding. Mike will then fly back to Florida to work for one more week, while I ride to Holland with his parents and brother. Mike will fly up to Holland the next weekend. (He has at least two weeks of paid vacation that we are going to use.) We will hang out in Holland for two weeks, and go to a wedding in Midland on August 8. Then, on August 9, we'll fly back to Florida. I will have a packed up car and drive to Sarasota that night, likely staying with a friend since our theoretical new house in Sarasota will have no furniture. August 10 my contract starts, and we will move that week/weekend. End of summer! For anyone interested, this puts me in Holland July 20ish until August 8. Hurrah!
