Okay, saturday is a happy time because even though i like my job, it's nice to have some time off too. I have been finding it a little harder than usual to get my little bit of sunshine outdoorsy time, as i am somewhat tired by the time i get home, have breakfast, do stuff on the computer for a while, then don't feel like taking a walk, but by the time i wake up it's almost dark out. Unless I go to sleep right when i get home, which is rare. Maybe it's harder to get out during daylight because daylight is getting shorter and shorter, but after a few weeks it'll get lengthier bit by bit again. But i'll make an effort to include more time outside, especially the next few days when we will be enjoying some nice mild weather still.
Overwritten is the title of today's clip It is, according to the YouTube notes, which of course are always suspect, accuracy-wise, A short CG film by Hsin-Chien Huang. With Music by Laurie Anderson
It seems like it might be accurate as noted on YouTube. I beleive Huang might be the same guy that she collaborated with on Puppet Motel.
Talked to my dad for a while on the phone saturday night. We talked a little on thanxmas too, and then tonight he told me they had a special post-thanxmas dinner on saturday for vfw members. He saw a bunch of people he knows, including our former neighbors
. When we were kids, another neighbor decided to leave not only her spouse, but her infant daughter and two young sons and move away to live with another guy, the youngest son was so devastated, and Millie tried really hard to comfort him, and was very concerned about him. All the neighbors gossiped, but Millie really cared. Dick was working on one of the boats at iwo jima, and watched his friends get slaughtered there in WWII. He still cries when he tells about it. Very sweet people. They are the kind of people that say "god bless you," a lot, but even if you are not religious, they are so sincere that you end up feeling like it was just a wonderfully friendly thing to say. Laurie will doubtless have some good memories of them, as she remembers everything. She claims she will re-visit the intstitute online here soon. Dick 'n' Millie were still living on the corner when my mom died, and lots of people did other nice things, but i was really touched that they were the one family that did the traditional gesture of bringing food to the house when they found out. Such nice folks are all over the place, but y'know, sometimes they seem so rare.
