Finally got my silver jalopy back from Larry. Alternator. But now I am ready to enjoy the long weekend and looking forward to seeing several friends next Saturday downtown! Got more wooden wine boxes to paint at Woodmans this morning. I think the first place to have cute violet shelving added will be the kitchen.
I wasn't sure what theme to do not having been on here much in the last few weeks. I think perhaps autumn will be the theme for September, then more Halloweenish stuff for October, then Gratitude for November since thats the month of Thanxmas. Even tho it doesn't officially start for three weeks, this is not only my and Laurie's birth month but is the first day of fall, on planette pipette.
But some of the autumnal theme, clip-wise, will be incidental mention, such as the lovely exteriors in this cute show that Little Laurie clued me in to. She has little Huey's speech for the ringtone that plays when I call her! Excuse me, I have an announcement to make -- she imitates him perfectly, of course.
This gross clip is a remnant of the first season. complete clips of which were removed by The Man.

Some of you will recognize famous lefty Ed Asner from your childhoods, or reruns of other people's childhoods, as he played Lou Grant on Mary Tyler Moore. And played Lou Grant on Lou Grant, but that's another story. They tried to make a spin off of a sitcom into an hour long drama. I think. I am not sure if i watched it. Number 8,564,567 on the list of things Laurie must be consulted about if the truth is to be recalled! Anyway his voice is unmistakeable and they made his cartoon self sort of like a caricature of him, well not exactly his looks but how his personality has always made him seem.
Here's a clip that may or may not have been broadcast --
Grandad's dystopic daydream about the garden party.

Laurie likes to say huey's announcement at the garden party -- the famed one about jesus, reagan, and nine eleven ...just like huey and i like to say the riley thing -- white people say the WHOLLLE WWWORD LIKE THISSSSS. White people take time out to study...
I like Boondocks. It's very entertaining, and the creator is not afraid to make fun of racism within his own community. The episode where Martin Luther King is still alive is brilliant. Uncle Ruckus (no relation) is kind of hard to take but you can't help laughing every time he says something. The parody of how the Mumia case gets explained is very funny, although probably not as politically correct as I like to think I would appreciate. McGruder is more comfy with the "n" word than most of us here in Madison, likewise with grandad taking of his belt and swinging it at the kids every episode. But the characters are adorable and visually it is one of the best shows Adult Swim has offered in a long time.
Well, I must take time out to study the inside of my eyelids for a few hours and then get up and listen to Prairie Home Companion. Everyone have a happy holiday weekend!
