Dec 09, 2010 18:05

You know what I love guys? Alternate Universes and what better way to celebrate Christmas than with AU ficlets and sketches for context?

Warning: Tons of profanity, allusions to sex and body horror/nightmares. )

alternate universe, fanart, golden glider, heatwave, fanfic, trickster, captail cold, christmas countdown, james jesse, links, piper, hartley rathaway

So much AU love! *squee*

Please to not be ashamed of any Lantern AUs. At least yours actually have, yanno, other Lanterns! (Torrid vs Captain Cold = much lols)

OMG Jerrbear! <3

And I like how the powers are handled in both the Swap and the Telepathic Alien Bears.

oh my but you've been busy! i love all the sketches. your style is so expressive and adorable at the same time. and the last AU, the origin switcheroo...ah, that one still intrigues the hell out of me. nicely done :)

Aw, shucks. ^////^

I...should write more fic of the origin swap universe. It fascinates me too.

Something which fascinates me about this AU is the question of how acrobatics are affected by the absence of the sense of hearing. Because of my poor eyesight, I trip over my feet while crossing the room; I can't ride a bike, let alone walk a tightrope (or a balance beam, much to my embarrassment in phys ed class). But would deafness be a challenge in that situation? (For instance, we know that balance is affected by the vestibular organs in the ears.) Or would the absence of audience sounds and unexpected loud noises make it easier to concentrate?

Karunya is overthinking again tonight, a sure sign of Advent-weekend exhaustion. I'll go sleep in the corner; ignore me unless I snore too loudly.

My own thoughts on the issue is that Circus!Hartley would be trained more as a contortionist and be incredily bendy, but wouldn't be allowed to do up in the air tricks. Eventually he learns how to walk the tightrope, but really fucking hates it. So naturually he makes the flying shoes so he'll always have a safety net.
