Good for you! Hubby and I needed some encouragement today, so I made this macro. For almost 20 years, we served as urban missionaries/mentors in the local public housing project. It was easy and fun to be a progressive political activist there. When we moved six years ago into the house where my husband was born, we moved into a VERY conservative neighborhood. I'd been accustomed to being a town council member and being surrounded by people of a like mind. Around here, I feel so lonely standing outside the polling place with the only non-Republican handouts within several miles! ATM, service dog Freddy and I (both wearing our 2008 Dachshunds for Obama t-shirts) are taking a break from leafletting in my old neighborhood. *SIGH*
Slacktivism at it's finest. Vote for everything from rebuilding school libraries to feeding wild horses, top ten ideas will get grant money from Pepsi.
This is the stuff! LOL, I've probably done most of them at one time or another. This is the time for all us caring people to make our opinions known by votes, words, and ACTIONS!
I love hearing that folks are participating in the democratic process! I worked the polls from 5 am to 1 pm, went to class, voted, am going to take a nap and eat dinner, then I'm headed back to the polls to help close up shop.
