I'm admittedly kinda late on the bandwagon, given I got suckered into this pairing by Countdown and don't know that much about their respective backgrounds, but wow. This fic seems really thoroughly researched, and so far, an excellent character study.
Also, the whumping is always fantastic :) It's always so much easier to be sympathetic to characters who are occasionally jerks if they're in pain...
Really looking forward to seeing where this is going :)
Thanks for the kind words. There was a lot of research done for the fic, not so much for the character details, because we both had a scary knowledge of the characters, but for the medical details. Luckily I have a friend who's a nurse; she helped correct the inaccurate details.
The situation's going to get much worse, I can tell you that :-).

If you haven't yet seen them, vigilante_wake has an excellent series of posts summarizing the characters' important storylines.

As Blinky said, the research was mostly medical, and that was all her; I was no help. But it's nice to hear the characters are working well for you!

We may have been taking advantage of that. Just a little. :)
(Actually, I think the thought process was, okay, so we're evil, how can we best express it? But aside from that. *g*)
I love the ending to this part, and also Trickster complaining about his fanboy. Heh. The conflict is just -- at every turn, you're reminded that their alliance is uneasy, and Trickster is a skittish butthole sometimes (especially when he's been shot as he so delicately reminds us X3). Anyway, in other words, yay. Awesome. :3
Thanks! The bickering was really the most enjoyable part of writing this (well, maybe the angst too). The boys both have severe emotional issues, and it's not helping them get along. Plus, you know, Trickster's a jerk. *g*
and also Trickster complaining about his fanboy.
He's never gonna let that go. You steal a Rogue's name at your peril, and making off with his gimmicks, well, that's just adding injury to insult. Your injury. *g*
I woobied at the "Why do you want to be made of glass?" "It's better for people to know who you are, isn't it?"
I love their strained alliance that they made. Their arguements leave a lot unsaid. I wanna see where this leads so badly.
We had to resist putting in too many conversations about obscure details from older comics. We didn't want to confuse people too much :-).
Put them in! Twisting canon is fun!
Trickster is kind of an ass. I can kinda see why, but to make comments like that ("You didn't have to sneak in a grope") there has to be underlying issues.

Yeah. *pets boys* It's much of the difference between them summed up in one exchange.

Neither of them are real big on discussing important emotional issues (although Piper's mouth does tend to engage along with his temper). Hence the pain and delirium, first choice of h/c writers everywhere to get their closemouthed characters to open up already. :)
Trickster is kind of an ass.
Yes. Yes he is. :) In his defense, he's in a lot of pain and he's very unhappy about being so helpless that he can't even get out of bed without leaning on Piper. Piper could be more understanding about this, but it's not all that surprising that he's not.
