Summary: Parody of the poem.

....
‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the safe house,

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse,

Though a rat did creep near the window’s ledge,

Ducking under the fence and over the ledge.

The Rogues were all nestled snug in their beds,

While visions of mischief danced in their heads,

And Heat Wave in his suit and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long drunken nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang up from the couch to see what was the matter,

Away to the window I flew like the Flash,

Tore open the shutters, while Mick hid the cash.

The moon illuminated like a lightshow,

That rat creeping up so quietly below,

And what to my hazy eyes did appear?

The Trickster of course, back from the dead to spread cheer.

With a kiss and a grope and a bit of a lick,

The reunited in a manner that made me quite sick.

More rapid then speedsters the Trickster’s intentions change,

And he bellowed out loud waking all within range.

“Oh Coldy, Oh Wizzy, Oh Heaty, and Master,

Hell Barry, Yo Jay, and Wally get here faster!

It’s holiday fun and I want to celebrate!

Aw why not you too Imposter, you damn little ingrate.”

And the Piper pressed closer to the Trickster’s side,

Whispering something about later and his ability to ride…

So down to the common room we nervously came,

Worried about his sanity and what was his current game.

And then we together the survivors old and new,

With our Flashes, three generations, and apologies due,

Trickster laughed like a child, an innocent sound,

And danced about the room never touching the ground.

He was dressed still in stripes from his head to his toes,

And he only paused once to lick Piper’s nose.

“My friends,” he said. “I have returned,

And I’m ready to share with you what I have learned.

This is family you fools, and family it will remain,

Some are lost, some are gone, but this stays the same.

We will always remember but learn to forgive,

Miracles don’t happen if you don’t remember to live.

There is laughter and lighting watching us still,

Glowing like thunder and running his fill,

It’s alright to be sad…” and the trickster’s smile was grand,

“But come join my joy, can’t you understand?

This is about Christmas, the present and past,

And this new year that’s coming won’t be our last.”

There we cheers all around a wondrous sound,

And there went the Trickster back off the ground,

He twirled the Piper, they kissed, and it eased our doubt,

And incredibly lightning danced all about.

His voice was there and a glimmer of gold,

That meant far more to us then any fool’s gold.

And we heard him cry out in a whispering voice,

“I may have died a hero that was my choice,

Once a Rogue still a Rogue, make the old adage true,

I will see you soon, and Merry Christmas, too.”
