That's...interesting. Does that mean he'll get co-opted for actual plot-reasons into Final Crisis?
Or does he just get stuck in Iron Heights to get even wackier? I mean, it's not like he came out with a *rat fixation* the last time he was there.
As for Josh, I'm thinking disappeared into the time-stream. It's not like there aren't *other* time-displaced kids wandering around the DCU because of the Flash books. As long as the crackly lightening around Libra afterwards doesn't indicate that *he* is adult-Josh, it's all good.
As to Inertia, really, who thinks that bringing along the impulsive Chaotic Evil psychopath to hostile negotiations is *ever* a good idea? At least all the other Rogues can *cow* Axel; no one could make Inertia afraid for long enough.

I think he will be. I'd kind of suspected as much ever since the beginning (as long as the Anti-Life Equation is turning everyone into slaves, wouldn't it make sense for a guy who manipulates it to help defeat it?), but this adds more weight to the theory.

Of course, this depends on Grant Morrison's ability to plot coherently... he can be brilliant, but he has a high plot/wtf! ratio.
It's said that Piper and Trickster were meant to be major parts of Final Crisis. Fact is, you can see the Pipster-shaped scars all over the Final Crisis storyline -- all that stuff about the melody and the ALE, the stuff in Reign in Hell... there are hastily-written-over Pipster-shaped holes all over the place. But some overzealous fuckwad decided to off Trickster for sales. Thannnnnk you, not.
Piper in Iron Heights again *sob* I think he's punishing himself, poor guy.
Darn, it sounds like it's a story to avoid then, if there are major holes in it like that. Especially with the ALE being used -- are there any other DC characters who can manipulate it, aren't evil or *dead* -- because that was *why* Piper was in Countdown, right? To set up his role in FC?
I prefer Piper in Iron Heights, rather than him taking the Rogues out in a suicide run, which was what I thought might be what he was planning. He's certainly powerful enough to kill them all, he can be *pushed* to murder, and he currently has absolutely no one to restrain himself for, since he and Wally haven't reconciled.
Though... if Wally doesn't at least check in on him, I expect Piper to come out of Iron Heights even more messed up. Though what can top the rat-love and still keep with his Pied Piper of Hamelin identification, I'm not sure.
That was the original purpose of Countdown, yes, but now everyone seems to be sweeping it under the carpet.
I don't like Piper in Iron Heights. He could've just slunk away, they didn't have to do that to him. I suspect he's punishing himself for failing again and worse failing James.
I dunno, but I just wrote something last week that fits in with this pretty darned good and I'm all "buh?!?" at the coincidence, really.
Yes, but don't forget that Countdown was originally going to have Trickster in league with Desaad. There have been so many changes that who knows what DC originally planned for them (if at all) in Final Crisis.
He might not end up in Iron Heights...they might send him to the loony bin (since he's talking about the end of the world), or attempt to contact the Flash, and have him end up at JLA HQ or something. I'm sure the heroes would be very interested in what he has to say about Libra -- if they hear about it, of course.

What? Seriously? I can't imagine Trickster working for Desaad for more than a minute before he got annoyed and revengeful -- he's very much a Bugs Bunny from what I've seen, and wouldn't tolerate the sort of cruel arrogance of the Apokalips New Gods.
Frankly, a loony bin would be better for him, even though he's not exactly deluded at the end of RR.
And I'd like to see him with Wally, because that's a relationship that needs to be addressed. His two closest friends disappear off the face of the earth, he spirals down into depression and bad decisions, and yet still has utter faith in Wally when Wally shows up again.
DiDio: What happened was - one of the story beats actually changed since the poster was made. Originally, that grouping was to signify that both Penguin and Trickster were working side-by-side with DeSaad. Both had come over to DeSaad, had seen where things were heading, and both were trying to negotiate their own lives and their own safety in regards to what was happening with DeSaad - and both of them would ultimately turn on DeSaad in the future. You saw some of that with Penguin, and a little with Trickster. Ultimately, Trickster was going to betray Piper to DeSaad. That’s why he’s holding the pipe.
What happened though, as the course of Countdown continued, there was a radical change in how the story was going to be handled, and ultimately, Trickster died. So that particular storyline did not play out the way we had planned it to when we were constructing the poster. So we

Inertia = Leeroy Jenkins there. He almost managed a Total Party Kill for his side.

That's true about Morrison, unfortunately...
