Come out to play-ay-yaaay
I finally got around to listening to Warriors, the concept album Lin-Manual Miranda and Elisa Davis adapted from the 1979 movie. Turns out it's dope as hell; when it was finished I immediately re-started it. Should I have been a Hamilton fan this whole time?!
I described The Warriors (the original movie) as "goofy but awesome" in a Facebook group, to have someone take umbrage at the first part. Dude, the Warriors fight a gang called "the Baseball Furies" who dress like mimes and beat their rivals up with baseball bats.
Every act of joy is a revolution under authoritarianism. For the next however many years this lasts, I'm going to find things that bring me happiness, and so are you, and no one gets to vote on that.
For now Warriors is just a concept album, but so was Jesus Christ Superstar.
