Manhunt went with "Now he belongs to the angels" instead of "ages"
I renewed my Apple TV+ subscription and have been watching Manhunt. I appreciate how angry the show is, like wow we had a real opportunity to be better than we could be, and we just totally fucked it. It's impossible to know what this country would be like today if we'd gotten a second Lincoln term, but I feel like it would probably be better than where we wound up. Anyway, fuck Andrew Johnson, now and forever.
It accurately portrays Booth as the pathetic, cowardly fool with daddy issues that he was, and also lands firmly on the side of "Mudd knew what the fuck he was doing", which is where I have always been, his descendant's protestations aside. Look, everyone has ancestors on the wrong side of history! The only way that says anything about you is in how you choose to deal with it, and they chose to clap their hands over their ears and shout LA LA LA CAN'T HEAR YOU.
There's something weird going on with my social media, it keeps trying to force-feed me right wing content. It started with TikTok after Claudia Sheinbaum's election, every time I open it I see at least one grossly antisemitic video full of bizarro claims, like that there were 37 other people running for President of Mexico and they all got "mysteriously assassinated". I've been reporting and blocking them, but I wonder if I shouldn't bother. Like, does that count as "engagement" and just encourage the algorithm to show me more?
I have no idea what would have prompted TikTok to start showing me this garbage; TT is where I go to get away from politics and my FYP is usually dogs, painting/journaling/collaging, and just random funny stuff like that guy who goes to museums and does voiceovers of characters in obscure paintings.

Generally the only "political" content I consume on the app is clips of Jon Stewart's episodes of The Daily Show. I don't know why that would make it think "She probably wants to see crazypants bigoted conspiracy bullshit as well"?
It's also started happening on Tumblr, although that tends to be more standard boring MAGA crap, like video of some stupid bar in Idaho that's declared June "Heterosexual Awareness Month". Hur hur hur.
This is probably because of AI somehow.
I'm still working my way through Creative Abstract Watercolor, but I also took time to dive into my Neoplasticism experimentation and finished this last night:
And yes, it is an actual representation of something... which means I know which way it goes up. I shared it with a Facebook group and someone said it looks like a cow, which I now can't unsee. But hey, I'm of the "the viewer's interpretation matters at least as much as the artist's intent" school, especially when it comes to abstract art. What do you see?
Jamie's coming over this afternoon to stay for a couple of nights, either on her way to or from a work thing in New Orleans. We're going out to Shuck's for dinner tomorrow.
