Weekend accomplishments

Saturday I made breakfast for the 'rents and I, and after I showered and got dressed I went to Five Below. I wanted to get an extra of the dot grid notebook I bought a couple months back and decided to use for a weekly planner. It's an odd measurement and has that weird disc binding, and it just seemed like the best way to have extra paper. I decided to start that planner last week, so if I want to change the layout or something's not working, I can have it figured out by the end of the year.

As you can see from all the correction tape, I'm still figuring out the spacing. Also it doesn't have a lot written in it, because it was such a slow week at work, and also I hardly spent any money (which is good).

Went to the carwash to vacuum and put some air in my tires; it was raining off and on so I didn't bother with the carwash. I went to Rouse's, which has been remodeling and reorganizing their store for months and it's driving me nuts. Everything's in a different place every time I go there! I wish they could just do it in one weekend and get it over with.

Came home and dusted my bedroom. I was going to take everything off my bureau and use glass cleaner, but then I remembered at the end of the month I'll put my hurricane season altar away and put out St. Lucy, so I'll just do it then.

Watched the 2nd Enola Holmes movie and did cross stitch. After supper I started the 4th season of The Sinner, which is off to a weird fucking start. I mean, that show is always kinda weird, the hero is a cop who's a depressed masochist that everyone's always pressuring to retire. For the longest time I was convinced this was an American version of some Scandinoir show.

I also found a couple blank pages from my aesthetic collage project, so I did this:

It's "Arsenic & Absinthe", which is a note that I made in my phone while half-asleep a couple weeks ago. I have no idea why I did that.

Sunday I made a Dutch baby and turkey sausage for breakfast:

I vacuumed the living room rugs, did a load of towels, changed and washed the bedsheets, then had to run to Super 1 because I forgot to buy more unsalted butter and powdered sugar for the pink champagne cake I told David I'd make for his birthday. It was his favorite as a kid, there was a bakery in our hometown that made a fabulous one. Mom, bless her heart, never could bake for shit, I mean she couldn't even manage a box cake. She made great fried chicken and gumbo and gravy, but baking was just not her thing.

I'm a good baker but a mediocre cake decorator, they always turn out lopsided. But it tasted great. Supposedly this is a dupe of The Madonna Inn's pink champagne cake, although I don't know how unique a pink champagne cake recipe can be. They're all more or less the same. I made him one last year, but that was kind of a lazy version using a white cake mix as the base. I decided to go all in this year. I cut smaller pieces than usual because dear lord is it sweet.

After supper I watched more of The Sinner and did some cross stitch. Here's this week's progress:

What shenanigans did you get up to this weekend?

foodie, pink champagne cake, bill pullman, arsenic and asbinthe, a california yankee in king cake's court, the sinner, planner, day in the life, the madonna inn, notebooks, aesthetics, collage, cross stitch, five below
