Saturday I drove home from Alabama, arriving around 2:30. I unpacked right away, because that's the kind of person I am, went through mail, straightened up my bedroom a little. I did feel a little bummed about my vacation being over, so instead of having some cocktails like I usually do on Saturday afternoon I decided to have a delta 8 gummy. I had another one after supper, too, so the rest of the day was pretty pleasant. After supper I worked on my cross stitch and watched the season finale of Los Espookys, which was amazing, and the first couple episodes of Vatican Girl, a true crime thing on Netflix.
Sunday I made eggs and bacon for the 'rents and I, changed and washed the bedsheets, showered, went to Michael's for a few skeins of embroidery floss, washed the road trip dust off my car, and went to Rouse's.
Speaking of Michael's, here's a funny story that I don't think I've told here before: The first couple of years I lived in southwest Louisiana, there wasn't a Michael's in Lafayette. We only had a Hobby Lobby, which, even before the whole thing about how they didn't want to pay for employee healthcare because it might include birth control, to say nothing of the antiquities theft thing, I did not like shopping at. I looked at all the creepy Jesus-themed stuff they sold, and their self-righteous closed-on-Sunday policy, and figured we probably didn't have compatible values.
After a few years, a Michael's opened in the same strip mall, virtually next door to Hobby Lobby, and hung out a big vinyl banner reading OPEN ON SUNDAY! Pretty punk rock for a craft store.
I made some cheese and fruit plates for everyone when I got home, changed and washed the 'rents' sheets, and in the afternoon the 'rents went to pick my sister up from the airport in Lafayette. (She drove from New Orleans in her rental car but didn't see the sense paying for it while she's here since she can just use the 'rents' car if she needs one).
She's been eating everything in NOLA for the past few days and I figured she'd prefer something light, so I made what I call "dress-up pasta", where you just make some ready-made fresh pasta and add a little flair to it. This is mushroom ravioli with sage, brown butter, and sliced almonds:
It was supposed to be pine nuts, but we had almonds and pine nuts are like $8 for a teeny little bag.
For dessert I got one of those small chesecakes with the different flavors from the Rouse's bakery:
After supper I visited with the 'rents and my sister and did some cross stitch. Here's my progress so far:
Can you tell what it is? I think I've mentioned what it is, but that was a while back.
