I remember reading a book for a book club that was all about selling land rights in Louisiana, how they were all about money and "whatever" about the environmental impact. It was called, "Strangers in Their Own Land: Anger and Mourning on the American Right" (I scooted over to Goodreads to look up the title). The main thesis was trying to understand conservatives if you're a liberal, but I remember there was a lot of stuff about Louisiana in it.

I probably wouldn't have chosen the book if it wasn't for a book club, heh. But it had some interesting bits.
