Very sad news, Julee Cruise, singer and voice of Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, Dead at 65. The article doesn't say what she died of, but it seems like it was natural causes and not sudden. She died at home and, judging from her husband's statement, it seems to have been expected.
I was OB. SESSED. with Twin Peaks when it originally aired, and that never went away. I've done several cross stitches of patterns inspired by it, I have t-shirts and pins with Twin Peaks graphics, I have a notebook that looks like Agent Cooper's tape recorder, my ita bag showcases my Twin Peaks fandom, and one of my most prized possessions a Black Lodge pictogram ring that my sister gave me a few Christmases ago. And in 2017 (in anticipation of The Return), I built a fairly insane Twin Peaks charm bracelet:
Cruise's singing, along with Angelo Badalamenti's music, was so much a part of the show's vibe. I can't even picture Twin Peaks without her voice and his compositions.
