so yeah. i just finished my UPCAT yesterday. it was... steady. parang ahead diagnostics lang. i was happy when i saw that language proficiency and reading comprehension were the ones that had the most number of items. science and math got my head spinning. i had so many blank items in the math and science part because i couldn't make my mind make intelligent guesses. :(
i can't give out tips anymore since everyone has probably taken the test already. HAHAHA! but still, allow me blog about my judgment day (UPCAT). :D
we arrived UP at around 10 am. we had brunch at Chocokiss @ The Bahay ng Alumni (good food but i couldn't finish my Salpicao all because i was nervous :|). clock's hands were already at 11:30 so we left Chocokiss to go to the Economics Building. the line was so long (maybe because the "gates" were still closed or there were just so many stage parents) but nang and mum decided to wait with me until the line starts to move. take note: mum and nang were far from the line unlike the other SPs who were in the line with their children. when the line started to move, my heart started to pound. i started praying while breathing deeply then the line stopped. we were formed into 3 lines and i was in the middle line. line 1 started going in and my heart was pounding again. then our line started to move. "Lord, ikaw na bahala sakin."
i was in room 252, i think? i loved the tables. they weren't arm chairs (although there were some at the back), the tables were the long ones that had little drawers under. imagine the AV 1&2 tables only longer, bigger and color brown. the classroom was elevated so there were 4 rows and 3 columns with 6 people on each table. the chairs were squeaky, the two acs didn't make the room that cold, and the lights were kind of dark but i thanked God that my room wasn't bad.
it was already 12:45. the test was about to start. the examiner gave out the instructions blah blah blah. when i got a hold of the the answer sheet and my hand started shaking. i worried about spelling my name wrong, shading the wrong letter, switching up the numbers of my pin, and whatever things like that. yes, i'm THAT paranoid. HAHAHA
so let me sum up the test:
1. language proficiency:
- had english & filipino
- no analogy!
- paragraph arrangement was easy. do you close your eyes when you kiss?
- filipino version of completing the paragraphs was @-)
- i finished early so i reviewed some parts
- guessed intelligently in some items
2. science:
- i actually don't remember much about science.
- basta no physics
- not much chem
- general science, earth science, bio
- the genetics items made me happy
- couldn't guess at items i didn't know (i guess i didn't want to risk it)
- i had many balnk items
3. math:
- GEOMETRY :|
- not much trig nor stats (wala nga ata eh)
- more of algebra
- i couldn't make intelligent guesses :|
- blank items galore (60:40 ratio, 60 being the answered ones)
4. reading comprehension:
- the stories weren't as long as i expected
- i had a hard time reading because of the lighting
- i also made intelligent guesses
- i got to answer everything on time :D
so there. UPCAT.
meet Chowder. :D
thank God you came after. you're the best after UPCAT gift. :D
oh, and i got my ipod back. :D
