DIA DE LOS MUERTOS IS COMMING UP FOLKS! YAY! For all of you uneducated fools who don't know what that is...that, my friends, is the Spanish Halloween. Instead of only one day of fun, they have 3; October 31st, Nov. 1st, AND 2nd! Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated like we should and used to celebrate halloween...they don't make death something that feared (the way we do here in the US of A). Their holiday consists of remembering their loved ones who have passed, by having a huge celebration in which "spooky skeletons" (otherwise known as calaveras) are brought out. They make amazing alters out of flowers, usually roses or carnations dedicated to their diseased loved ones and even pets too! This holiday is surely my favorite...The best place and time to celebrate it is on November 2nd on Olvera St. They still hold out the old customs of the Spanish culture. They also provide FABULOUS shopping (if you like skulls, dancing dead people, and overly religious art)! I LOOOOOOOVEEEE this time of year!
I will be celebrating Dia De Los Muertos with a few of my favorite people, Lindsay, Eric, and Derek! We will be going to Olvera St. on Nov. the 1st. to do some yearly shopping and festivity watching. I hope I have either educated you or enlightened you, this shit stained Halloween season. THE DAY OF THE DEAD is where it's at folks!
Little did I know it was the Day of The Dead!
