What happened when Benny entered the ‘Twilight’ zone - continued

“So, that’s what happened. We got back here. Took Benny to the training hall. Spent the last two days getting him down from Crazy Street.” Sam closed his eyes and leaned back against the armchair. Gabriel came closer and rested his hand against Sam’s cheek. Sam relaxed into the ghostly caress.

Castiel looked up as Dean came into the room. He looked worn out and Cas gave him a little smile. Enough to let him know he was there, if Dean wanted to talk. Dean returned his smile with one of his own and slumped down next to him. They sat in silence for a minute or two.

“What did Elizabeth say?” Cas asked, breaking the silence.

“’bout what?” Dean mumbled against his shoulder.

“When you went to see her, after Sam left with Benny,” Cas explained.

“Oh, Benny got lucky. The kids he hitched a ride into town were still at the movies. I talked to the girl. She was more interested in getting me to help her win back some wimpy boyfriend. I’m in total sympathy with Benny,” Dean said, brightening up a little.

“How’s he doing?” Sam asked.

“He’s stopped howling. He fed, and now he’s sleeping. I told him Elizabeth wanted to visit.” Dean said.

“Is that wise Dean?” Cas asked. Gabriel nodded in agreement. Sam just huffed.

“The one thing Benny understands is family loyalty. If Elizabeth will let him be part of her life. I think it will help,” Dean said and yawned.

“But you don’t know,” Cas said.

“No, Cas, I don’t bloody know. Okay!” Dean snapped.

He yawned again then headed off in the direction of Cas’s bedroom. Cas followed him with his eyes but didn’t make a move to follow. Instead he looked at Sam.

“I don’t understand,” he began cautiously, “Why do these vampires sparkle?”

Sam glared at him, “Haven’t you been listening?”

“Yes, but I still don’t understand why these vampires sparkle. To the best of my knowledge that would be impossible.” Cas answered with calm logic.

Sam shook his head and then turned on the TV. Flicking on Netflix, he found ‘Twilight’ and pressed play.

“This is why, Cas. I’m going to bed. Never mention this to Benny or Dean, or I’ll deep fry your wings,” Sam said and left the room leaving the two angels staring at the TV screen.

The next morning when Sam and Dean made their way into the lounge room they discovered the TV smashed and furniture in disarray. The Rembrandt print was lopsided. The floor was littered with candy wrappers. Castiel was lying in the middle of the room, asleep, holding his angel blade. Gabriel hovered by his head, playing with Cas’ hair.

“What the Hell happened here?” Dean demanded to know.

“Stephenie Meyer is evil,” Cas mumbled in his sleep.

“Cas didn’t like the movie. He wanted to smite the authoress, and the cast. Actually, everyone involved. I said that might be a tad overkill.” Gabriel offered as explanation.

Castiel yawned, stretched and woke up. He looked at Sam and Dean, then at Gabriel. “I understand why Benny did what he did,” he said.

“That’s great, but what happened here?” Dean asked.

“As I was saying,” Gabriel spoke, “Since Cas couldn’t smite anyone for real, and because I hated the movie. I made Twilight piñatas for Cas slay. Then we ate the candy.”

“You didn’t eat. I did. I don’t feel so well,” Cas said getting to his feet.

“That’s all you did?” Sam asked Gabriel. The ghost archangel smiled a little.

“I may have haunted a movie starlet or two while Castiel was asleep,” he replied with impish delight.

Sam and Dean looked at each other, wondering whether or not they should be angry. There was movement upstairs and a couple of minutes later Benny walked into the room. He looked as disheveled as the room.

“Guess nobody likes ‘Twilight’,” Benny drawled looking around the room.

No-one answered. There wasn’t any need. Because c’mon, sparkling vampires?!?
