Better

So, if you could not tell by my last entry, I was rather sad and confused. I feel much better after talking to several people here, particularly my good friend Michelle. We talked about my situation for a while, and then we moved on to what was bothering us in our country. One subject in particular was gay marriages. My parents have been telling me that on TV all you see is coverage on the controversy of gay marriages. Come on now, are we not fighting a war in Iraq and Afganistan, and are many people being killed senselessly? Of course, but what does country focus on? Gay marriages, of course. It seems eerily familiar to the situation here, where people thought he PP (popular party) was concealing evidence, and what happened from that? The people got angry, rallied, and voted them out of office. Unfortunately I do not see this happening in our country. The government is covering up the real problems with ones that should not be a concern. It two people want to get married, they should be allowed; whether it be man and woman, man and man, or woman and woman. Everyone is an American citizen, which was founded on freedom and equality. This to me is not equality. It is discrimination and should not be allowed. I think the main reason why so many are opposed to gay marriages is because it is "un-Christian". I think we have strayed from the "freedom of religion" aspect of our country as well, as our president says, "God bless" at the end of his speaches, the pledge of allegiance says, "One nation under God", and our currency says, "In God we trust." That seems religious to me. This HIPOCRACY (for I feel that is the buzz word in our society nowadays) is probably why gay PEOPLE cannot have the same rights as heterosexuals, religion is incorporated into politics. None of us are taught in school that homosexuality is wrong, people are taught that by their religions or other outside forces. These forces should NOT be involved in politics, and for this reason, I see no reason why discrimination against homosexuals should be allowed. I think our country is so concerned with reputation and power they have forgotten why we existed in the first place: freedom of religion and freedom of speech. I think we are now moving into a stage of "freedom of oppression." The rights to be a human being and self-expression have been stripped from homosexuals for not allowing them to marry just like everyone else. Supposedly in our country, nobody has the right to take away your happiness. That is exactly what is happening to homosexuals who cannot marry.

I think it is time for our "fearless leaders" to grow some freaking balls and stop hiding behind what is really plaguging our country.
