Just so that none of you freak out about what I said earlier, I will clarify the situation. As of now, the death count is at 131 and injuries of 400. I am sure the number will increase as the day goes on. What happened in Madrid is nothing that should concern any of you with me. The act was an act of terrorism by a separatist group seeking a political agenda. Therefore, our teachers here have assured us that nothing of this sort should happen in Valencia, and none of us should worry. This is not a cultural attack like September 11th, or anything that has happened in Indonesia over the past year, it is just something purely Spanish. I feel very sad for my Spanish friends and teachers here, as it is devastating to them. Nothing like that has ever happened here before. It just goes to show you, no place is ever completely safe, and whether you travel to Jakarta or Madrid, anything can happen.
