You're never really going to enjoy true metal until you learn to love the growl/screech/(ostrich noise).

Helloween, Blind Gaurdian, Avantasia, Freedom Call, Battlelore, Rhapsody, Symphony X, Dungeon and The Gathering(but they're not power, still awesome).

Eh, that's not a very big list. Sorry, I'm not really a big melodic metal fan. ^^'

ALSO! Check out Age Of Silence, they're SO GOOD. I just remembered there's no growling in their music so far.
