Honesty is the best policy. (Well, mostly...)

Had my first brush with a loud party and the possible legal ramifications.

Awesome 80's party. Good costumes. Decently tipsy off about 4 beers. Good music, but too loud...

After hiding in Cody's room with some random girl, talking to Nate on the phone (who told me there was a party bus outside), and eavesdropping on the conversation between the guys and the cops, I decided I might as well go get my MIP. After mentioning that my boyfriend was there to pick me up and admitting I had no I.D., it was question time.

Officer: "Do you have any I.D.?"
Me: "No, I'm sorry." *I hold out my purse containing a t-shirt and chapstick*
Officer: "How old are you?"
Me: "20."
Officer: "How much have you had to drink?"
Me: *no hesitation* "2, maybe."
Officer: "That's fine. Ok, you can go." *motions backward with thumb*
Me: *pause* "Thanks."
My inner monologue: "WHAT?! I do NOT understand. What? Shit. Just keep walking."

How did I get away with it? I went out prepared to get MIP'ed. I saw people being stopped and escorted away for what I assumed was breathalizers. I guess I was calm because I had decided it was my only option.

I feel really bad though. I don't know if the guys will get distributing charges, noise violations, etc. Anyway, I will not be attending anymore loud parties until June 9th, 2006.
