A.K.A. Who needs to drop acid?

(Don't see it unless you a)have no expectations as to what kind of movie it is and b)can see it on a relatively large screen)

(This was a honk/comment if you're a film major post. ;D)

and C) love philip glass, the composer.

what'd you think of it?

there's another film much like koyaanisqatsi, i forget the name unfortunately, but between the two there's some of the most beautiful footage out there.

Yeah, I recognized Phillip Glass right away. I'm thinking of getting the soundtrack...

I loved this film. Like, we had just gone through three REALLY bad student experimental films that were giving me a headache (picture an hour's worth of Cycle de Vie), and when they put Koyaanisqatsi on it just blew me away. I've been watching all the cinematography classes that go through the Soundstage, and I really think all they need to do is show this movie. There is EVERY type of shot, and all beautifully executed.

Ok, I'm going to stop going on and on about it. Tell me if you find out the name of that other movie, though. Was it by the same

yo jigga,

check out

baraka

Powaqqatsi

Naqoyqatsi

Anima Mundi

Microcosmos

Waking Life

Winged Migration

Akira Kurosawa's Dreams

Himalayan Dreaming

Rhapsody in August

Madadayo

watch all of these. while on or off acid, but perferably once each.

if you're serious about the film career, check these titles out. a mix primarily of Koyaanisqatsi-esque movies, some Kurosawa, and waking life which is just a cool sober/acid movie.

I've watched a LOT of Kurosawa, and I've seen almost the entirety of dreams, just out of order (all of my classes have been showing different scenes).

My favorite is The Tunnel.
