[TRANS] Last Friends - Lemon 0804 interview
I'm sorry f-list. :( I've been neglecting LJ lately because of exams and such so I have probably not been commenting as much as I should have. ;_; When exams are over...in June (D:)...I will try my best to make it up to you all. ♥

During your shoots up till now, what's something new that you've discovered about your role?
Masami: I've said this before, but doing the role I feel Michiru is someone who is really strong and gives her all in placing her feet firmly on the ground.
Juri: The feeling of doing motocross is great. Ah, guys like this kind of feeling of being excited, is something I've sort of discovered.
Eita: Takeru still doesn't act upon his own feelings, he'll only act if people act first. I think Takeru's wonderful for being able to live for other people like this.
Asami: Eri is a really bright and open girl, but she's actually someone who gets lonely easily. So she has this part of her that clings on to men, that's what I thought when we were filming the sharehouse scenes.
Ryo: Discovery....(everyone is paying him attention)
Eita: (spots some white paper in Ryo's hair and picks it out for him)
Asami: That was so kind~ Takeru. You really do everything for other people!
Eita: (calmly pops the paper into his mouth)
Everyone: Ehhhhhh~~~~! (bursts out laughing)
Juri: Did you just eat that? Hey Eita, don't be ridiculous.
Ryo: ... (blushes in silence)
Masami: Nishikido-kun is shy.
Ryo: My discovery was...I felt hitting people is wrong. (Masami is) a girl, pulling her hair and stuff was really wrong.
Masami: Haha, if you made me bald what would you do (laughs)
For some reason when Nishikido-kun speaks, everyone tsukkomis (Note: sort of like verbally bullies) him lovingly.
Masami: The four of us are together in the sharehouse, but for Nishikido-kun at times other than these the five of us can't speak together.
Juri: The truth is he's a passionate person who thinks about a lot of things, right~
Ryo: After about a week from now, I'll become shy around you guys again though...
Girls: How troublesome~
Eita: But because he has a wide breadth between his dark and bright sides, as a guy I have an interest in him. Yup...I like him.
Masami: A confession!? (laughs)
Juri: Eita who always says weird things like that all of a sudden is also interesting.
So, who's the moodmaker?
Asami: Wouldn't that be all of us? Even if we dropped a chopstick it'd be funny, it's that kind of feeling.
Juri: But when it nears shooting time, we naturally practice our lines together right. I like that kind of atmosphere. And if we're talking about discoveries, Asami-chan looks pretty without makeup.
Asami: (in a small voice) Say some more!
Juri: Masami-chan will bring something to the set and make things fun.
Asami: Right right, like dentures or weird sweets that look like gold teeth. (Note: Not sure about this: 入れ歯とか金歯がついてるヘンなアメ) But that wasn't very funny (laughs)
Masami: Ahahaha, that's right (laughs)
On centerstage, the thread that spins around the five of them becomes even more complicatedly tangled. Even watching the opening sequence of the drama, there is a deep meaning.
Asami: It expresses each of our roles. The whereabouts of the red ribbon.
Masami: ...Whether it's connected, or not connected. I think it will become a help as the story goes on.
Juri: It's really good that the real honest parts can be shown. Right, Nishikido-kun!
Ryo: ...I think it's really wonderful.
Masami: Eh~ is that all?
Ryo: No, about the following the red thread thing, it's painful that I'm the only one moving in a different direction. In the middle of the complete white, I'm the only one wearing a black necktie.
Eita: In the poster, there's also a very deep meaning to the fact that I'm the only one with my eyes open...
Masami: I think there will be a lot of things to come that will be like "Oh, it had that kind of meaning!", so please watch the show while paying attention to these things.
And a BONUS for you guys (since I'm feeling extra guilty x3) - they played a game where each of them had to come up with a phrase beginning with each kana of もくじゅう (Thursday 10pm, which is when the show airs in Japan) to answer the question "What kind of drama is Last Friends?".
Masami: もりもり元気に！(Let's become really energetic!)
Top-batter Masami-chan answers really at ease! ...Was it that bright of a drama? (laugh)
Juri: 苦しいこともみんなで乗り越え (Even if there are hard times, get through them together)
With Juri-chan the track is slightly corrected? (laugh) Everyone says, "You said a good thing!" in admiring voices.
Eita: 自由に (Freely)
A very simple Eita-kun. "I DEFINITELY knew you were going to use 自由 (freedom)!" he gets tsukommi-ed by everyone...
Asami: 夢を見て (Looking at our dreams)
Asami-chan answers promptly. Nishikido-kun with the heavy responsibility of being last has "the eyes of a dead fish..." (by Eita)
Ryo: 嘘だらけの世界で頑張ってます…？(We'll do our best in this world full of lies) Note: the font got smaller and smaller near the end of the sentence, read on to find out why
Even though he was last Nishikido-kun continued with "In this world full of lies". Upon being tsukkomi-ed by everyone with "Second round?", he got flustered and closed it. (laugh)

I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did translating it. :D I had the most fun with this article actually because the interaction between the cast was really adorable and you can tell they get along really well in real life. ^^ I also hope it gave you a new insight into the drama, and if you haven't watched it yet...you should. D:
Oh and re: the opening sequence, here are a few things I've noticed:
1. Asami's thread is only wound about herself and not the others which symbolizes her loneliness
2. Ryo is connected to Masami which symbolizes his attachment to only her
3. There is one long thread connecting Juri-Masami-Eita which symbolizes their eventual love triangle (apparently Michiru will end up having feelings for Takeru)
4. Juri is also wound around herself which symbolizes her internal conflict
5. The thread that connects Masami to Ryo is extremely extremely tangled symbolizing her confusion
Also when the thread is first sort of grouping them together all of them walk facing the camera whereas Ryo is walking away. :3
ALSO I am going to take it upon myself to pimp the JE forum at Jpopmusic.com :DDD There used to be lots of active users but many of them left after official downloads were banned. HOWEVER, if you're looking for a great place to spaz and fangirl and discuss (if you're a Hello!Project fan, the H!P forum is legend, and the Official Other Artists forum is full of other Jpop artists as well) then please do join. ^^ We're a small tightknit community and are trying to liven things up a bit.
