There's this tune, from years ago, it plays through the room and he sees him moving slowly, from left to right, his eyes closed; he moves by himself, lets the music guide him and its been a while since the light shone like this over him, or that body moved without a crowd, without an instrument, for himself only.
The music stops and he's in the kitchen making a drink; from the hallway he can see Toshiya pressing on repeat and the song starts again. His eyes are closed his body still moving, still moving and Kaoru sips from his drink, leaning in the threshold.
Slowly
Soles barely leaving the carpet, arms moving along, a head leaning to the side a little. There are images of a vest and bare arms like these, a club somewhere and heat. On his tongue he lets the candy melt.
Five fingers
Four play
Three
Toshiya's head dips back a little and he can see him mouthing:

Then the saxophone cuts in and Toshiya pushes his hands into the pockets of his pants, his arms stretched and shining in the low light, his shoulders slightly up. Kaoru’s fingers sweat on the cold glass, the moisture seeping through the napkin.
The song ends and Toshiya seems lost in the room for a second, doesn't see him, turns to him surprised and smiles softly, smirking a little at Kaoru's own smirk when Kaoru puts the song on repeat again. He reaches out the drink, this sweet Mai Tai simulacra he made in the kitchen that Toshiya always enjoys drinking. And Toshiya grins, looks into his eyes then into his glass, sipping, moving again.
He barely registers the sax again and Toshiya puts the glass down behind him, suddenly breathing the same air as him, and they sort of dance, move along to each other.
The party ended, there are cups and things everywhere, it's five and dawn slowly creeping in, his arm brushes against Toshiya's and Toshiya turns off the light on the drawer behind him, the song playing along to itself on a loop
Kaoru somehow remembers him amber haired and just as tall, this song an echo of another place

and Toshiya's lips are on his, moist, sweet from rum and the distinct taste of orgeat syrup, his tongue slick, his teeth awkward and bumping against him, and it's like kissing a piece of sugar, of honey and Kaoru's eyes close against the warm breath and the big hands on either side of his face.
There had been other clothes, hair styled differently, in other colors, in other places, his memories mingling slowly into one, same lips, same kiss, same nibbling on lips, same shape of the same nose, same eyes, moist, looking at him, same three freckles in a line across a cheek, same silent plea and now it's just this, this

A smile against his lips, furtive

his own hands are taking a shirt off, his lips are pressed against cologne and heated skin, his fingers run along bumps of a spine, reach up for lips again.
Later, he barely registers the sun going up slowly, a red sliver at the horizon, in his bedroom, behind Toshiya's slender body, his mouth breathing hot air into his ear.
Toshiya's body is pliant beneath him, his strong thighs on either side, brushing his ribs and he feels the sharp cut of a knee beneath his lips.
Then, Toshiya's collarbone, salty in the dark, his moans short, lost between fingers in his mouth, buried into his neck, into his hair, his arms bringing him closer, fingers digging into shoulders, into Kaoru’s thighs.
He's moving forward and Toshiya slides up a little, their bodies pressed together, connected, he opens his eyes and the sun makes Toshiya's face glisten golden, his mouth open, his eyes closed, in his mind he whispers Toshi, or maybe he does in reality too, because Toshiya turns and looks at him, into his eyes and it's getting hard to hold on. He moves and Toshiya turns his head to the left, biting his own lips. Toshiya's hair is plastered to his face, half to his neck, he moves with him, mouthing mute things against his forearm, nibbling with his teeth at the tattooed skin.
It’s a dance, this thrashing against sheets, this coming and going, this meeting all the time, this heat, this pressure that makes his blood pump hard, harder than anything, between Toshiya's soft mmmms and soft pleas, between his own mouthed name against his cheek, his ear, his neck. This complete submission, surrender. It makes Kaoru mad, every time, makes him forget, makes him ask things he doesn’t voice, makes him search for possibilities, chances, the new. And when Toshiya comes, a strangled cry holding tight around his neck he falls, down, into him, into him again and again until there is nothing else but darkness and a buzz.
This thrashing, this complete surrender, this resting of an ear over a heart, this warm breeze from a mouth above, this moment, before walls are up and things are said. This hug in a sunlit bed in the early, early morning and time dilating slowly, muting everything into submission and falling asleep.
Later he wakes up with Toshiya’s nose in the crook of his arm, his hand between them, between their ribs, a big palm one with Kaoru’s skin. There’s coffee in the kitchen, and a telephone that will ring, there are clothes he needs to take to laundry, and cleaning up, cigarettes he forgot somewhere…
He gathers his arm closer, looks down and Toshiya moves his head a little, his nose sliding against his skin, breathing slowly against him and Kaoru closes his eyes, the music starting anew in the distance…
