“What do you guys normally talk about” Nino squeezed himself next to Ohno, sneaking his arms naturally around the other. The other three members were nowhere to be seen, leaving Ohno as the sole target at the moment.

But of course, unaware of it, he shifted slightly for Nino, sleepily gazed up to the other expectant smile “What do you mean?”

“You and” Nino paused dramatically, leaned closer and replied in sing-song whispers “Kame-chan.”

Being a member of Arashi had taught him a lot; not to argue with their stylist, not to mess with Jun in the morning, and, the most important rule, never let Nino get in your head.

“What?” Ohno replied quietly, fidgeting nervously under Nino’s arms.

But, being part of Arashi also taught him that, escaping from Nino was futile.

“Well, news travels fast, you know” Nino answered, playfully rubbing Ohno’s broad shoulder.

“It’s still new. So” Ohno let his words trailed mid sentence, hoping Nino will not further the interrogation.

He almost thought he succeeded, when Nino lets his arms slipped off. Unfortunately, luck was not on his side “It must be tough, right?” Nino’s fingers lingered on Ohno’s laps now, lips smirking devilishly “The two of you are so different.”

“We don’t really talk much” Ohno admitted it with a small nod.

“And I’m sure you guys don’t share the same hobby and interest. I mean, I saw his drawing once, and believe me, it was hideous” Nino added mockingly. “Does he like fishing?” Nino asked.

Arching his eyebrows, he gave it a thought before shaking his head “I don’t think so.”

“So, what do you talk about?” Nino asked again.

As much as he didn’t want Nino’s words to affect him, it did make him tossed and turned in his bed for almost an hour. Pulling down the cover, Ohno reached for his phone, staring at the time; 12.30 am.

He sighed again for the nth time, flipping it open, reading the text message he wrote an hour ago.

To: Kame
From: Ohno

Are you free this weekend? Wanna go fishing?
There’s this beautiful and quiet spot at Lake Okutama.

3 minutes later, he pressed the device, with the thought of ‘Now or never’.

10 minutes later, the phone was still dead silent; mocking him.
20 minutes later, Ohno sat up straight in his bed, doodling on his sketch book.
40 minutes later, his mug of warm milk was half empty.

An hour later, he curled comfortably on his oversized leather couch, dreaming of sea bass.

He woke up with stiffed neck and aching back, but a bright smile beautifully spread on his lips, reading the short reply displayed on his phone’s screen

To: Ohno
From: Kame

What time should I pick you up?

Fishing with friends was not new for him. He even brought few of his kouhai fishing before. But Kame didn’t really fall under those categories.

One thing for sure though, Kame was the most fashionable among all.

“You look great in those” Ohno broke the silence, eyeing Kame from the corner of his eyes, admiring his dark blue vest, over the red checkered shirt. The acid-washed jeans and high cut boots of fur detailed, seemed comfortably fitting for fishing in the autumn.

The younger guy slowly lifted his eyes from the script he’s reading, smiling softly at Ohno “Well, I might not know much about fishing, but at least I can try to look the part.”

Ohno returned the smile, completely at ease; wandered whether he can ask Kame for fashion advice for the next Mannequin 5.

Two hours later, there was still no catch, and Ohno started to worry that Kame getting bored spending their precious free time in the woods. He was about to suggest a new spot, when his text message tone blared loudly.

“I didn’t know we can get line here” Kame said nonchalantly.

“Me neither” Ohno replied, quickly fished his phone out and flipped it open.

~Happy Fishing~

Receiving text messages from other Arashi members were normal.
Receiving text messages on their off days were not rare either.
But, receiving a short text message from Nino, simply to wish him well on his fishing day, did not fall under those clauses.

Sighing deeply, he slipped the phone back and stared absently. The silence was welcoming, but with the thought in his head he awkwardly asked “We are different, aren’t we?”

“We are” Kame replied curtly, folded his script in two, and stashed it into his back pack.

Nervously fidgeting with his rod, Ohno continued “I like fishing and love to draw.”

Kame narrowed his eyes, observing Ohno silently. Then he shifted his folding chair closer to other “And you’re good at it.”

“Well…” Ohno could not find the words, restless.

Gingerly placed his warm palm on Ohno’s lap, Kame asked straightforwardly “What did Nino wrote in the text message?”

“Eh, how did you know it was from Nino?” eyes wide open, perplexed at Kame’s wild guess. Then, realizing his mistake for not denying it, Ohno quickly added “You’re psychic, aren’t you?”

But, such bad acting did not work on Kame. “You frowned when you read the message. Then you start asking weird question” Kame explained, eyes trained on Ohno’s hands “Nino’s the only one who could do that to others. He has those wicked charms that get under your skin” Kame said. “Literally, sometimes” he added under his breath, lips twitched into a knowing smile.

Ohno raised his eyebrows at Kame’s last statement. But then decided to let it go, knowing well that being Johnny’s, things bound to happen one way or another.

“What I mean in…” Ohno words halted mid sentence when he felt a sharp pull on his fishing rod.”

“Eh you caught something” Kame exclaimed excitedly, rummaging their stuff for a net.

Then, Ohno skillfully lured the fish, waiting patiently for the right moment. With one smooth swift, he pulled it up, revealing a gorgeous trout. Kame quickly held the net for Ohno, before transferring it to the ice box.

After all the excitement, the two exhaustedly sprawled on the ground, side by side, admiring their beautiful catch.

Kame was the first to speak “Ne Oh-chan, I may not be good at fishing, heck, I’m not sure I even suit for it” he licked his lips nervously “But you know what, I can cook quite well.”

‘Perfect’ he thought to himself, casually leaned closer and patted Kame’s brown mane affectionately “Let’s go home.”

Nino was right. They were different; the opposite polar at most.
Their fashion sense clashed, they don’t share the same hobby and most of the time, there’s nothing to talk about.

But life as an idol is complicated enough without worrying about those things. And being with a guy, already added the cherry on top.

He really likes Kame and for some weird reason, Kame likes him too. And to Ohno, that was enough for them to go on; with or without fishing.
