spherion is god
Today as a last resort type deal, I went downtown to apply at a temp agency called Spherion. It took almost two hours to fill out their application, however it seems now that those two hours were probably the most productive i've had all summer. I received a phone call only three hours later informing me that I have an orientation tomorrow morning to work with at Niagra Chocolates factory. It's way out in Cheektowaga, and i'm not sure exactly what i'll be doing or if I will even have a position after tomorrow. According to the person who called me, the way it works is if I show up for orientation prepared to work, they will get me oriented and offer me a position. If i like the position i'm offered, I take it...if not i decline and Spherion looks for something different for me. However I'm not picky and will take just about any position they offer me.
I'm excited and happy that there is a good chance I will be working as of tomorrow....according to the newspaper ad it's 12 hour shifts, three or four days a week...i'd love to get all of those hours however i'm not sure if that's correct or not and let's face it, i really don't care. I also don't know how much Spherion is taking out of my check weekly, but again...i don't care (I know i'm making over min. wage). This is good b/c I will have money for school next semester (by the way, after a month of not really knowing what i was going to do next semester it is decided; I WILL be back at Hiram next semester...got a loan yesterday, so fuck Erie communtiy college!)
