My method relied a lot on hair extensions and my stylist. I basically cut my perms down from once every 6-8 weeks, to only 3-4 a year. Then I put my hair in weave styles so I wouldn't have to put heat or mess with my own hair. I grew about 3 inches a style and I had to trim an inch down every time I took the weave out.

It requires more maintenance but it's worth it to me because now my hair grows faster. You do have to drink plenty of water, detox if possible and moisturize your hair a lot. Hot oil treatments once a month, deep conditioning every two weeks and a good trim every 6 weeks.

I also used Aphogee shampoo and conditioner the entire time. I found that's a good brand to start with. You might want to use a medicated shampoo for a little while because the lack of perm severly dries out your scalp. It will look scary I'm telling you now. It's probably going to peel off in layers which sounds worse than it is. It's just the layers of scalp use to getting those chemicals is drying up. It's normal. Just use the medicated shampoo (AtOne with Nature is great) and a lil hydrocortesone around your hairline and scalp. Don't worry, your hair will be fine. But it keeps your scalp from basically falling off into your lap. lol

Hope that helps a little! That's what I did.
